COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company
The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range.
An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.

All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.

With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.

In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste.

11.2 oz bottle pours amber with a white head. Aroma of caramel malts, yeast and grass. Taste is sweet, caramel, spice and just a hint of alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color, with a medium off-white head. Taste is of hops, sugar, spices and some distinct citrus as well. Not bad for a quadruple but nowhere as good as the "normal" one.

Very nice aroma of candy apple, pears, candy sugar, and toasty malts. Poured a deep golden color with a gigantic foamy head. Flavors were predominantly sweet candy and rich toasted malts, sour apple, pears, and a bit of bitterness. A hint of alcohol as well. Palate is rich but perhaps could be richer for such a high gravity beer. Nevertheless this is a well made beer and certainly worth trying (and re-visiting).

Op fles 33 cl. Zonder gist een mooie amberkleurige vloeistof met een redelijk rijp fruitige smaak. Na het toevoegen van de gist is het een mooie ronde smaak met vijgen en pruimen smaak.

Lovely amber colour with a white head. Floral, fruity aroma. Full flavour. Is that pineapple? Leaves a filling taste to the mouth and a nice warming after taste. Great beer.

Honey colored beer with a light brown layer of foam. Light sweet aroma, where you can find the odor of alcohol. Full, dark licorice like taste, that goes for a light bitter aftertaste. Honingkleurig bier, met een lichtbruine schuimkraag. Licht zoetig aroma waarij de alcohol ook aanwezig is. Volle donkere dropsmaak, die omgaat in een licht bittere nasmaak.

Ar: Honey, hay, and lightly toasted malt - peach and golden plum. Ap: Golden-orange, hazy - medium off-white head with good retention - leaves broken smears of lacing. T: Bright malty backbone, orange and peach - medium sweetness - medium bitterness, a bit of hay, and herbal undertones - honey and rich malt - clean and spicy alcohol - some mossy hop flavor and rosy alcohol on the finish. P: Medium-full bod with high carbonation - finish is medium-dry. O: Big and bold Belgian abbey ale - complex, with lots of spice and fruit flavor - great malt and honey accents, as well - solid beer.

Corked & Caged 750 ml Bottle. Appearance is a hazy, bronzed amber color with an inch of beige foam and thick lacing around the glass. Mostly candi sugars, pears and raisins in the aroma with a touch of malt and yeast around the edges. The flavor has a good deal of Belgian yeast, caramel malt and tropical fruit notes upfront followed by dried dark fruits, brown sugar, banana and honey. Also an oaky alcohol presence throughout. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and creamy with strong carbonation and a slightly tart, sweet finish. Overall, an enjoyable Tripel/Quad hybrid.

Bouteille 330ml.
