Our brewmaster, Jef Versele, crafted this exclusive Gulden Draak Brewmasters Edition as a tribute to his grandfather Jozef Van Steenberge and the 230th birthday of the brewery. His inspiration came from his numerous trips to the United States and his deepest respect for the craft beer culture. This exclusive Gulden Draak combines the technology and the craftsmenship of the traditional brewing process. By letting the beer mature on whiskey barrels it gives it a distinctive and gental finish that you have never tasted before.

Bottle from Brewerís Haven Boise... Paid $13ish... Pours a hazy dark yellow/orange... looks like peach or apricot nectar... not very pleasing... the head is off white and sticks around for quite a while... Not nearly as dark as the standard Gulden Draak. The nose is pretty interesting.. spicy/fruity... apricot and lite clove with a dusting of whiskey and vanilla.. complex but restrained. Lighter whiskey than expected... much more of a BSPA than a BSDA... no dark malt/fruit elements really at all... peach and apricot are the biggest players with a dry vanilla/oak in the background... light clove phenol notes with an even lesser peppery bite. Body is medium/light with a pretty big but expected carbonation.

Pours gold into a trappist glass. White head crackles and recedes to hug rim. Caramel and oak aromas. Crisp with sweet biscuit and dough upfront turning to mild vanilla and oak in the lasting finish.

Bottle, smell of sweet floral, appearance is cloudy gold with white head, taste is sweet but not too sweet that warms you as the alcohol kicks in.

Pours a beautiful hazy blonde. Nice white head. Aroma isnít very strong here. Tastes of cereal grain heavy, honey, sweet fruit, vanilla, caramel. Super smooth from the oak. Very palatable. Awesome beer.

Bottle. Murky amber beer with a dark cream head. Yeast and light fruity/estery aroma. Fruity/estery flavor with yeast and light whiskey. Medium bodied. Fruity esters linger with malt, yeast, light spice, and light whiskey.

Pours murky orange with a medium sized white head. The aroma has bananas, heavy malt, caramel and a hint of oak. The body is full and rich with a touch of roughness to it and flowing gentle carbonation. The flavor starts very malty with caramel, vanilla, light oak, Belgian abbey smooth yeastiness and some alcohol warmth. The finish has more abv, but its warm and not burning. Thereís also some fruitiness that sneaks in. For being aged in whiskey barrels, Iím sure not getting any whiskey notes, but there is some vanilla and oak that may be coming from there. Nice.

Barrel aging adds smoothness to this beer, taking some of the rough edges off. Medium amber with foamy head, dried fruit and some sweetness mix well with a solid malt backbone. Nicely done and really enjoyable.

750 from somewhere. Pours a very cloudy orange color with a large though dissipating white head. Sweet grainy nose, almost wheat-like in that thereís some husky sourness, oak. Hmm. Not getting a ton of bourbon. Super yeasty bright citrus beer, robust Belgian Ale, a bit of bourbon and sweetness in the finish. Heat. Very good. Pretty fresh and lively.

Pours a hazy orange grey color. Notes of apricots, candi sugar, vanilla, banana, and toffee. Supple mouthfeel.
