COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewmaster, Jef Versele, crafted this exclusive Gulden Draak Brewmasters Edition as a tribute to his grandfather Jozef Van Steenberge and the 230th birthday of the brewery. His inspiration came from his numerous trips to the United States and his deepest respect for the craft beer culture. This exclusive Gulden Draak combines the technology and the craftsmenship of the traditional brewing process. By letting the beer mature on whiskey barrels it gives it a distinctive and gental finish that you have never tasted before.

Bottle from Brewerís Haven Boise... Paid $13ish... Pours a hazy dark yellow/orange... looks like peach or apricot nectar... not very pleasing... the head is off white and sticks around for quite a while... Not nearly as dark as the standard Gulden Draak. The nose is pretty interesting.. spicy/fruity... apricot and lite clove with a dusting of whiskey and vanilla.. complex but restrained. Lighter whiskey than expected... much more of a BSPA than a BSDA... no dark malt/fruit elements really at all... peach and apricot are the biggest players with a dry vanilla/oak in the background... light clove phenol notes with an even lesser peppery bite. Body is medium/light with a pretty big but expected carbonation.

750 ml bottle. Appearance: finger white head, peach yellow color, cloudy, no lace, head does not last. Aroma: apricot, light oak and whisky. Palate: light body, lively carbonation, light alcoholic warming, sparkling texture, booze finish is light, whisky finish. Taste: sweet dried fruit taste, into a light molassesy sweet taste, and into a whisky alcohol taste that finishes it out. Overall, very unique, and would be very enjoyable if the carbonation was not so much (perhaps just an over-carbonated bottle...?). Really like the subtle whisky notes.

Pours a cloudy orange yellow with pillowing off white fizz. Nice set grainy fruity Belgian aroma. Big flavor of golden malts with hearty sweetness, nice apple candy and grape flavors with a little oak from the barrel. Lasting carb tingle with rich maltiness and the oak make for a mostly simple dense Belgian strong ale.

Great variation on a classic, with a heavy emphasis on the bourbon barrel and a lot of boozy, woodsy accents to an otherwise effervescent, clean, high-gravity, hop laden classic.

Almost died opening the bottle. Cork went flying. Aroma is woody. Orange zest. Belgian mustiness. Looks.... Weird. Like rotten orange color. That is an intense taste. Belgian funk. Sweet. Zesty. Like orange note. Big alcohol note. Itís sweet with subtle light notes juxtaposed with the huge booze and whiskey notes. Killer. Palate is huge but the mouth is pretty good. Medium body. Smooth on the palate. A very intense beer and it is mad good. Hits the Belgian style perfect with fruit notes and the synergy with the whiskey booziness is spot on. This isnít some barrel aged crap just to increase the price. This is solid. Expensive but worth grabbing for a fancy dinner.

Pours gold into a trappist glass. White head crackles and recedes to hug rim. Caramel and oak aromas. Crisp with sweet biscuit and dough upfront turning to mild vanilla and oak in the lasting finish.

Bottle, smell of sweet floral, appearance is cloudy gold with white head, taste is sweet but not too sweet that warms you as the alcohol kicks in.

Pours a beautiful hazy blonde. Nice white head. Aroma isnít very strong here. Tastes of cereal grain heavy, honey, sweet fruit, vanilla, caramel. Super smooth from the oak. Very palatable. Awesome beer.

Bottle. Murky amber beer with a dark cream head. Yeast and light fruity/estery aroma. Fruity/estery flavor with yeast and light whiskey. Medium bodied. Fruity esters linger with malt, yeast, light spice, and light whiskey.
