Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Pours very dark with a nice head. Sweet aroma with a small hint of alcohol. I agree with the brandy flavor. Somewhat of syrup but not too overwhelming. Enjoyed in a bottle.

Bottle. Sweet, rich alcoholic aroma of dark fruits. Dark golden red color with thick discolored head. Rich syrupy flaver of plum and brandy. Highly palatable. Great beer, take your time with it and enjoy every sip.

Draft. Frothy light tan, lasting head above a ruby brown body. Malty, yeasty aroma of caramel, toffee, raisin, mustiness and brown sugar. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, lively carbonation and a smooth texture. Solid.

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark cloudy amber with a large light tan head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a sweet fruit malt with a strong alcohol. Good sticky lacing along the glass. Thick mouthfeel with a sour malt taste hiding the alcohol well. A very good quad from Brouwerij.

Pours dark brown with a billowy off white head. Aroma is sweet, slight hops, alcohol, and some dark fruit. Taste is bready, spicy and ends sweeter with alcohol. There is a tart cherry present as well. Palate is thick and this is a meal of a beer. This was a good one.

Pours a deep murky reddish brown with a good thick head. The aroma is chocolate and cherry with some red wine and mild alcohol notes, the whole bouquet is a little muted for as big a beer as this is. The flavor is tasty tart and spicy up front with some fig and cherry and a bit of candy sweetness. There is way too much alcohol present, but this is one tasty beer none the less.

Sampled at Rustico (though I’m certain I’ve had it before as well). Pours a brown color with a small white head. Aroma is dark fruits, yeast, alcohol. Flavor is dried fruits (plum, raisin), alcohol. Palate is heavy.
