COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

33cl bottle. Poured beautifully. Ruby with a tight head. Nose is mulled-like. Cloves etc. Boozy taste but a big Belgian beer nonetheless. Lidl, you’ve done it again!

Pours chestnut red-brown. Aroma is sweet with a waft of alcohol. Strong alcohol taste, hard to get past. Sweet to start with a bitter finish leaving an alcohol burn. Taste is dark fruits, raisin, nutty. Not for me

Pours redish brown with a light brown head. Aroma is sugar, toffee, caramel, ripe fruits and brown sugar. Taste is quite the same. Not my style at all

Tap. Dark brown with a nice head. Smells like mulled cider. Lively on the tongue. A little boozy. Dark fruits and malt with enough hop to round it out.

Bottle from Alko. Porured dark amber with a steady white head. Aroma has dark fruits, some yeast, spicyness and malt. Flavor is similar. Very warming finish, but alcohol overall nicely hidden. Incredibly easy to drink considering the ABV. Bit on the sweet side though for my taste.

On draft at Julian’s of Providence, RI. Beautiful brown beer, almost a Belgian imperial stout, with the sweetness and coffee notes of a stout and the spiciness and yeast flavors of a true Belgian. Excellent mouth feel, with no alcohol sting despite the high ABV. A wonderful beer.

330mL bottle poured hazy brown color with massive beige head and nice lacing, which is unusual for a Belgian tripel. Aroma is roasted malts, yeast and alcohol. Taste is caramel sweetness, some yeast and hoppy finish and alcohol. Nice carbonation and full heavy body present a nice feel on the tongue.

33cl bottle from a mixed six pack from Lidl. An attractive reddish copper with a billowing cream head; aroma of toffee and Belgian yeast; rich, fruity, buttery flavour - like liquidised Christmas cake; smooth toffee finish with a touch of pear drops.
