One of the better really strong beers. Gulden Draak hides its high alcohol percentage really well. Full fruity aroma, and a nice soft sweet flavor. well done!

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2004 Deep ruby in color with a generous off white head. Aroma is dark fruit and bourbon. Flavor is syrupy sweet with notes of baked apple, dark fruit and toffee. Finish is sweet, palate is rich and the 10.5% ABV makes it’s self known.

excellent! What I have come to expect from a great Triple. Very complex and sweet. Strong alcohol flavor that I can’t wait to drink beside a fire on a cold snowy night.

rusty orange in colour with the most pleasant strong ale characteristics. There are the dark fruits in abundance and a touch of sweet sticky fruits as well like cherry, strawberry, and melon. It’s a veritable fruit cocktail on yeast! Tart and smooth finish. Hook this up to me by IV!

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
10/25/04. Poured out of 330 mL bottle, bought at Stuffed Sandwich in San Gabriel, CA 10/23/04. Pours with a very foamy, frothy tan head that diminishes moderately. Lumpy, patchy, and not very impressive lacing. Dark copper-red color-- wouldn’t have guessed that "gulden" meant "copper," but I’ve seen more obscene appraisals of precious metals. Nose is very caramelly and slightly peppery, subtly yeasty with an alcohol bite that sucks your breath away. Some new leather and old wood. Like your grandparents’ cedar closet with all of their luggage. Despite all that, nicely layered and very not bad. VERY not bad. Flavor is not quite as not bad. Big dark raisiny caramel with a touch of bitterness and a bold alcohol punch. I don’t know what kind of balance one could really expect from this beer, but it really doesn’t deliver it. Very sweet and Very fizzy mouthfeel and big alcoholic hum. Sweet and syrupy, this beer will rock your head the morning after. Very sticky. Finish falls out the bottom of this beer with a mouthwatering rush, leaving a dark belgian fruit and caramellized sugar glow. Sort of nice, for what it is, but it doesn’t shake that syrup and bold alcohol, and doesn’t really add much to it. Seems like I’m drinking furniture polish mixed with a nasty men’s cologne and melted brown sugar.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Well, despite its name, this beer pours a deep amber color, with ruby highlights when held up to the light. The head is midsized and light brown in color. The aroma is of dark fruit (plum and raisin), rum, and a sort of spiciness that reminds me a bit of coriander. The beer is fairly well carbonated as it fizzes on my tongue. It is sweet and fruity with raisin definitely dominating the fruit component, but notes of figs and prunes are evident as well. The combination of the sweetness and fruitiness gives this beer a certain richness that I was not expecting (you can tell it has been quite a while since I last had this). Overall this is quite a tasty beer, nothing that really makes it stand out and perhaps a bit too sweet, but it is a well built tasty beer.

Talk about a mouthfull! The aroma is malty and a little metallic. The flavor completely hides the alcohol at first, very sweet and malty, with a bit of alcohol and just a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. A nice beer, but not one I’d drink a lot.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Light tan head with an aroma of fruits and dark malt. Sweet in the initial taste, tangy, almost zen like. Very smooth and pleasant to drink. Aftertaste is mild to sweet, a little pale and hoppy. Alcohol is transparent so it sneeks up on you. A nice relaxing fireside beer.

Poured a rich dark honey with a reddish cream head.A really nice looking glass of beer.Nose is heavenly reminescent of a Middle Eastern fruit market selling dates and spices.Taste is just as devine. No let down here as I am enjoying overripe bananas and a strong taste of fruits laden with alcohol.
