Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

This is an interesting beer, though a bit too sweet for my taste. Pours a beautiful dark brown with a nice full head. Very interesting mix a flavors and aromas. A beer to be sampled and savored, not rushed.

330ml bottle from Whole Foods. Shared with dalekliz. Pours dark brown tan head. Nose is sweet and light. Taste is sweet with a rich caramel malt backbone. Pretty nice, quad, surprised I ignored for so long.

This beer is in many ways similar to the numero uno. But beats it in every aspect. For this reason alone i sell my ten crates of Westvleteren. No more hypes for me.

Bit of a gusher! 33cl bottle, gift from donfardz64. Pours a very dark amber colour with a thin, brown head. Aroma begins with a hit of cinnamon, milk chocolate and clove. Fruits such as apple and raisin, supported by a cereal malt base. Only a hint of alcohol in the nose. Flavours are nice and malty, with a mellow, yeasty flavour. This one is quite spicy, lots of cinnamon, some aniseed and pepper. These work well with the high alcohol to make each sip very warming. Fruity flavours, such as apple, apricot, dates and raisins, all mingling with vanilla and toffee. Full bodied, with a mildly bitter/yeasty finish. Delicious.

Now residing in my top three favorite beers, this is one that I will continually purchase. Fantastic bouquet of potpourri in the smell, accentuated in a Trappist glass or capped ceramic stein. Beautiful color, fantastic hints of cinnamon, caramel, toffee, spices, fruits, everything you want in a beer is in this one. Somewhat like a mix of Chimay Blue and La Fin Du Monde.

This is an encore review of Gulden Draak for me and I’m much happier with it this time. Poured reddish-brown with a moderate off-white head that dissipated to a thin lace cap. Slightly sour on the nose. Rich and caramel-sweet in the mouth with a complimentary tart note. Nice.
