Aroma: Yeast and must, cherry and fruit. Taste: Medium bodied. Fruity-raisin, plum, fig. Some wood. Sweet and yeasty with a small amount of dryness in the finish from the alcohol. fidelis83 (712), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 30, 2009 Pours dark brown with a 2 finger creamy light tan head that just doesn’t go away and leaves plenty of lacing on my chalice. Aroma is caramel, candi sugar, toasted grain, pitted fruit, dark fruit, sweet grainy malt, and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is sweet and fruity up front, with toasted grain and dried fruit granola coming in soon after. The granola becomes drenched in dark caramel filled with toffee chunks after a moment. A floury lemon tart joins the party out of nowhere, while holding the caramel and toffee notes the flavor really opens up with dark fruit and spice as well as herbal and citrus hop notes. The finish is estery and spicy. Palate is a little too sweet, sticky and carbonated. Not bad stuff and fairly complex but it just doesn’t come together for me, also doesn’t hide it’s high alcohol content very well at all. Looks beautiful though. Butters (1637), Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Sampled thanks to sixfootsix. Pours a clear brown with decent sustainable tan head. Nose of raisin, plum, chocolate. Flavor is dark fruits, yeast. There is a nice warming quality but this manages to mask the alcohol quite well. Soft on the palate. I enjoyed this quit a bit. Extra point for the cool label, but that’s canceled out by the price :( nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased at Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Poured a clear brown color with red highlights. Think coca cola. There was absolutely no head. The aroma was alcohol and vinegar. The flavor was good, with dark fruit, caramel and some chocolate. A very minimal metallic taste in the finish. This beer doesn’t rank up there with some of the best in my opinion. hirigalzkar (558), Stockholm, Sweden

Taste is malty and choclatey. This beer is overall too sweet and clean. Rodders (114), Norwich, Norfolk, England
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jan 25, 2009 What a beautiful beer in every sense of the word. Smells strongly of alcohol when poured but taste isn’t overly present, just warms the throat plesently. Appearance is of a strong, dark beer. Hints of fruit, with a sweet caramel taste that lingers well. Truely an enjoyable beer. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
