HUGE fluffy head. Interesting to see a dark Tripel ale. I give extra points for the novel appearance of both the beer and the beer bottle. Smells like pungent raisons and alc. Yeasty. Tastes malty, black currant, plum, and yeasty beasties.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hugely dense creamy head. Raisins and dark crystal malts in the aroma. Very full-bodied, sweet maltiness. Very big beer. Very nice drink.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very intresting ale. Pours a tall, rich, creamy head that is very beautiful looking. Little aroma. Just subtle hints of yeast and malt. As for flavor it is superb. A complex arrangement of belgian malts, yeast, and spices. Begins with a nice rasion-like fruity flavor and develops into a pleasant bitterness. In the afterflavor, I noticed an interesting spicyness that burnt the tongue. Kind of like the flavor of a radish.

Hmm, not so awesome. Cool bottle though. What else? It is sort of lemonadey.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A dark brown with some haze. As advertised a creamy head but the alcohol weighs it down rather fast. Rich fruit, yeast and alcohol dominate the nose and palate with a tanic acid crispness in the finish that leaves you waiting for the next sip. This beats the Ciney Special I just had hands down. This is one to seek out!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Reddish brown, this beer presently sits in front of me with it's huge biege head dying a slow death. Strong presence of alcohol in the nose. Honey and raisins flavor, too much burn. Finish is slightly hoppy. Not very refreshing or fun to drink.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
An excellent big belgian brown ale. In many ways it reminds me of Chimay 10. Big rich brown colour and opake. A thick wonderful head coats the surface. Very rich and smooth and well balanced with esters and big malt finding near perfect harmany with a light but perfect hop bitterness. One of the best big brown ales I sampled while I was in Belgium.

a really interesting and tasty beer. despite the high alcohol content it still has a very high drinkability. though it seems i always enjoy drinking beers with high alcohol contents...

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 21, 2006 A beautiful coppery colour when poured. The nose is a rich toffee and sticky date pudding. The mouthfeel is huuuuge, clearly because of the ABV, but it has an amazing ability not to be too cloying. The hop presence is not immediate but it has a distinct dryness on the back palate. The head subsides reasonably quickly, and probably because of the alcohol it is too heavy to actually lace. Rather it keeps a thin creamy sheen. Thanks to Aaron at Camperdown cellars, I agree, it is a marvellous beer.
