COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Birra dal forte tenore alcolico e decisamente corposa. Dolce, con chiari sentori di maltato e di fruttato. Da bere con assoluta calma.

Reddish brown with short lasting off-white head. Leaves some bubbles. Lots of spices, prunes, raisins, some liquorice, porto, cloves. There’s a lot going on here, most of it sweet. Massive alcohol presence, tastes like way more than 10%. Full bodied, slick feel. Nice spicy ale, but has a bit too much alcohol presence for me, can’t believe all the high ratings. This is nice but nothing too special.

I know more people like this beer than me, for sure. I used to like it more, but the body of Belgian ales, when they’re really effervescent just turns me off. Pours super bubbly deep brown with khaki head into a tulip. Nose comes off with caramel and toffee paired with some fig and darker fruit. Flavor has alcohol notes with more sweetness and a not overly pronounced Belgian yeast character.. I still don’t love it though.

Rich taste, fool bodied dark beer. Aromas are rich with caramel and spicy hints. Head retention is medium and bitterness well balanced. Alcohol comes a little bit in front but balances well with the character of the beer. Is a good choice, i enjoy it from time to time.

2014/06/13 - Pours a dark brown-amber colour with a creamy, khaki head that lingers. Aroma is yeast, raisins, dark fruits and brown sugar. Taste is mildly tart cherries, plumbs, figs, raisins, brown sugar, yeast and mild alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium with lively, smooth carbonation and a drying and mildly warming finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big thick cream head on a deep burgundy beer. Strong aromas of yeast and Pinot grapes, brown sugar, plums and banana bread. Big stone fruit flavors, plum and apricot, maple syrup sweetness, with spiced boozy fruit cake. Highly carbonated, yet creamy and silky. The finish is creamy and slighty bitter. Syrupy and buttery, a nice toasty malt balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
