COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

0,33l bottle. Dark copper colour with big fomay long lasting tan head. Aroma: Yeasty but the banana dominates. Taste: Sweet malty start than banana taste. Slightly bitterness almost nothing but isn’t too sweet as well. Well carbonated with full body. Sweet a bit sour finish. A very good one.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2016 33cl bottle, served in Trappist chalice. Poured a nice chestnut brown with a ivory one finger head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, roasted malts, raspberries, raisins. Smells great! Taste pretty much a continuation of the aroma but even better than imagined, here you can also clearly taste the wine yeast that is used for secondary fermentation. Creamy, frothy mouthfeel. Full body and a very nice long bittersweet finish. Very good and enjoyed every drop of this magical brew!

Aroma is yeasty sweet with dark fruits and toffee. Taste is sweet, brown sugar, ripe plums. This is too sweet for me, but it hides the rather high ABV extremely well.

330ml pour from room-temp bottle in Kazakhstan. Pours brown and hazy with a long-lasting soapy off-white head. Nose of dark fruit (raisin, plum), nuts, apricot, yeast, some maltiness, and some woodiness. Has a sour-sweet scent. Body is full and sharp with the carbonation coming through strong. Taste leans heavy on the raisin/plum notes, falling solidly on the sweet side with sour undertones and only a hint of a bitter finish. Warming booziness on the end as well, but fairly well hidden.
