COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

330 mL bottle shared with ebone1988 for this yellow nightmare of a book. I had this beer before when rating was stupid, so this is the first go around. The pour is a dark ruby or garnet color with a thin cap of light beige head and a thicker collar. There are a couple spots of lace. the aroma is strange. There are a lot of typical Belgian qualities. The sweet malts and sting yeastiness really play hard on this one. It is a dark tripel, and I can absolutely see it. It’s everything that I’m not looking for in a Belgian. The clove and spice are huge. The flavor is very forward in the bready malt. It’s not that great. There is a spiciness to it that I’m not digging. There is something that’s a little offputting. It’s sweet and malty with a strange yeastiness. The mouth feel is decently thick with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly sweet and malty finish. This isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Had this beer like four years, but didn’t rate it. The palate is much more refined these days. Aroma is raisins, figs, bubblegum, booze, like a quad, really nice. Appearance is copper, light tan head, clear. Taste is caramel, raisins, figs, booze, but overwhelming spice that changes it quite different from most Belgian Strongs. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, spice and booze aftertaste. Overall, this one is not as bad as I remember, but still, there are much better Belgian Strong Ales out there.

Bottle. Chestnut color, hazy liquid, white head. Smell of banana and alcohol. Aroma is heavy malty, alcohol, raisin, candies. Taste is light bitter, light sour, heavy sweet. Good, but too strong. Nice sipper though.

Warka do 11.2017, więc świeża.

Solid sødme, men meget delikat. 33 cl/330 ml, flaske, 10.5 % ABV, BB: 20/01/18, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kolor: miedziany, lekko zamglony.
Wysycenie: w kierunku wysokiego.

Full nose with aroma of awesome yeast, floral tones, and fresh garden herbs. Color is amazing amber color with a beautiful head. Taste like a saison I love and a delicious yeasty flavor. Love it. One of the overall best I've had.

I much prefered this one over its 9000 variant, still as strong and maybe difficult to drink at the end, but a taste somewhat more pleasant, light, and generous. Alcohol level is the same, but I think it’s a better mix overall. Satisfying ! APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW !

Amber with off white head - Sweet malt aroma with hints of caramel - Good malt body that has some sweet caramel with some dark fruity flavours and hints of peppery and spicy flavours with some heat from alcohol - The malt goes into the finish with some caramel notes and some alcohol heat in the back - This was good

Bottle (11.2oz, about $5) Murk brown, 2 finger head. Sweet Belgian yeast aroma. Taste is sweet and fruity. Nice alcohol finish. Would drink this all day but for the price.
