Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Bottle, medium slightly dense bubbly head, quite clear dark rusty red color, aroma of vanila, almond, some apples and candy, flavor of caramel, plums and apples compote and a hint of almomd and spice, medium bodied, fruity sourness, light but quite evident bitterness. Surprisingly light and quite enjoyable.

Brown with a medium persistent beige head. Aroma is prunes, raisins, bananas, molasses, caramel. Same in taste with yeast and alcohol. Sweet aftertaste. Full bodied ale. The sweetness and alcohol reminds me some good brazillian cachaça!

Väldigt kraftig. Mörk frukt, hel del jäst, fyllig smak och väldigt fyllig kropp. Alkoholen döljs bra

Oh dear! Brownish ruby appearance, blonde head, tastes of caramel and yeasts. Full-bodied. Comfort. Barley wine or Strong Ale?

0.33 bottle. Hazy, dark red color and a large, off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, brown sugar, warmth and spiciness indicating a high but well-appropriated alcohol content. Taste of dark malts, spices, again brown sugar, and a warming touch of alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, and softish carbonation. Finish is a stronger version of the taste with a fruity accent, quite good. Overall a nice beer, worth trying.

Heaven in my mouth. There’s lot going on - raisins, slight catch of coffee, rye bread etc. Alcohol is suprisingly well masked. Aroma - fruit garden :)

Bottle. Hazy amber-brown with a big beige head. Smell of Belgian yeast, raisins, caramel and candy. Very sweet with flavors of honey, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, prunes and alcohol. Medium-full bodied, syrupy, quite heavy.

33 cl bottle. Reddish-ruby with noisy, a little beige foam. Aroma: sweet nectar, plum and prunes, toffee and caramel, like a fruit wine. Taste: strong and powerful, warming, wine with caramel, dried fruit and sweet spices. Superb taste.
