Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Bottle and on draft some time ago at mile squared. Bottle pours a dark brown body with a white head 3 fingers high. Dark fruity plum, and apple skins. Nice warming from the alcohol, light hoppiness a bit of citrus. candy sugar and clove to spice it.

From bomber. Pours re-brown with very little white head. Aromas of yeast and dark fruits. Bottle may be off - flavors seem muted and possibly tainted. Not as good as previous GD’s. Will try again in the near future.

Dark reddish black pour with no head. Nose is booze and belgian candi sugar, Some dark tree fruit, and apples, and a bit of cheese studded with nuts. Taste is the same and the apply taste is huge on the back end. I really like this. Refers to itself as a triple but listed as a quad. I like this confusion. Nice thick mouthfeel that is warming but goes down in a delicious fashion.

Color and look of dark rootbeer. If fruit cake were to become beer, this might be what it would taste like. Figs and dates, nuts and sweet cherries, brandy and other unnamed flavors. While there is an alcohol warmth, I can’t say that I really taste it, well hidden. Even a hint of bitter at the end. Nice.

Deep brown/red pour with thin white head. Aroma is of yeast, candied sugar and dark fruits. Slightly metallic as well. Flavor is of the same with added cherry/berry tartness. Smooth on the palate with light carbonation. Finish is slightly bitter.

Nice brew - dark brown/amber pour. very carbonated with large bubble head that disapated pretty quickly. aroma and flavor remind me of a scottish ale but better flavor. very sweet and thick! Hides the ABV very well. Flavor stays with you. Very nice.
