Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

(Bottle). Fruity and sweet caramel alcohol aroma. Deep reddish brown with thin off-white head. Very tasty sweet (but fortunately not too sweet) concoction of ripe fruits, and malt...a bit spicy, along with potent presence of alcohol. Finish is pleasingly warm, but lacks a bit of complexity.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. Odd, I always though I’d had this, but evidently not. Deep ruby, bubbly beige head. Malty aroma. No real alcohol burn. Big malty beer, that does carry it off, just a bit of heat on the end. Good raisiny fruit, bit of vinous fruit, some Belgian yeast. Impressive. Took an hour to drink mind you.

wonderful mahogany colour, nose is very light but hints at thsweetness. Flavour is sweet nuts with a molasses and a hint of citrus in a sort of rum way. finish is long and determined. I think i have a new favourite brew.

9/13/08 - FINALLY! Courtesy/Shared with Naka. Pours brown with a foamy, light khaki head. Nose is banana, brown sugar, slight orange peel and molasses. Taste is brown sugar and caramel. Fruity raisins and mild apple with lots of sugary sweeness. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth. Finish is sweet with a good alcohol warmth. Nice quad.

Beautiful and delicious as only an Abbey Quadrupel can be. Pours a beautiful dark mocha hue with a copper head and smells of caramel, dates, vanilla, toast, and smoke. Full bodied and warm with flavors of coffee, toffee, and with a fantastic complexity. I love you Belgium.

Gusto molto deciso, corpo molto consistente (sembra quasi di "mangiare"). La gradazione è più alta di quella che si percepisce

Tap at Ølbaren. Pours a dark brown colour with white head. Tasted at a pub crawl. It was free and great. Very vinouos aroma and flavor with dark fruits, caramel, syrup. Malts and sugar. Lovely. And free that day :-)
