COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Cloudy brown belgian with a comparatively small, vanishing head for the style. Cocoa and plum nose. Intense brown malt flavor with complex notes of coconut, brown sugar, reeds, nd allspice. No hint of the 10.5. The body on this beer is good enough to correct a bad one you may have tried before this. Just the right mix of bite and flavor. The finish just leaves you happy.

Brownish orange. The aroma is sweet berries, bannana, caramel syrup and orange. Medium bodied. Flavor of burnt sugar, raisin and dates. Farely long sweet finish.

This one of those "I can’ believe I haven’t rated this" beers. Its dark brown, decent off-white head. Big sweet boozy mess here. Lots of molasses and dark malt, lots of alcohol. Nice flavors, but ultimately too heavy and boozy. No thank you.

I was really excited about this one. Gulden Draak= Golden Dragon? I guess so. Imagine if you will sitting in a seedy German bierhaus(I know this beer is not German, but humor me)and the bartender asks in a stern voice: "Vat vill ju dreenk?" In a shaky voice you reply: "Gulden Draak". All eyes shift to you and whispers echo around the bar: "Gulden Draak, Gulden Draak..." and it builds up to a spirited chant, with drunken Germans beating on the tables in unison. "GULDEN DRAAK! GULDEN DRAAK!" You are nervous, and suddenly a crazed German man in a golden Speedo charges out from the kitchen headed to your table with madness in his eyes... except it is not a dude in a Speedo, but the most amazing beer I have had so far. A beautiful hazy golden brown color with a lively white head. Aromas of cloves, bananas, oranges, caramel, and everything delicious, such a complex palate. Tastes of bananas, tropical fruit, unrivaled zesty citrus, sweet caramel, and everything you ever wanted your dream beer to be like. I can imagine myself just ordering three of these nifty white bottles to keep me busy all night. Boozy aftertaste, well hidden by the sweetness, there is also a great candied apple aftertaste here that is truly unique. My favorite beer. Try it.

Flavor is heavy malt (toasted, cookie, caramel, dark fruit), light hops (woody), and average esters (dried fruit) with notes of prune, raisins, alcohol, date, and nutmeg. Full body, high warmth and carbonation, medium creaminess with a sweet yet biting finish.

pours a dark amber with small off-white head. nice and sweet, tasting something like strawberries here. very well balanced malts, some subtle hops on the finish with a slight taste of alcohol. extremely good. makes me wonder why i mess around with all these american beers that are "belgian style"...need to go for the real thing. nothing flawed with this brew.
