Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Dark rewd brown beer with a creamy somewhat brownish head. Opaque. Fruity, creamy almost milk chocolate-like aroma. Bit too alcoholic. Sweety, salty sour aroma. Dry palate with a bitter-sweet base and hints of coffee, pure chocolate and cherries. Rather bitter aftertaste and a bit too alcoholic. This beer warms your guts up as if it were some kind of liquor.

Flaske.

poured dark brown with a large off-white head. sweet aroma of apples, candy/ bubblegum (similar to a wheat beer). taste sweet with candy flavor and oranges (not hoppy but sweet) with a strong alcohol aftertaste. The beer had good carbonation with a warming from the alcohol. Overall I enjoyed this beer. Drink it with a seasoned steak and 2 yr. aged cheddar cheese.

On tap at Sharp Edge. Pours a really dark amber brown color. A small light beige head. Just a touch of dark malts and fruit in the nose, but has the light alcohol, yeast, and apple of a tripel. Flavor is a little brown sugar thrown in with caramel, toffee, and alcohol. A nice creamy body with a blend of hoppy and alcohol bitterness left on the tongue.

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House (FL) on 3/15/08. Pours a dark brown to black with a one-finger tannish head. Aroma: caramel, toffee, coffee, malt, dark ripe fruits, hints of grape and raisin. Flavor: sweet, alcohol, nutmeg, strong, malty lingering finish. Great belgian ale.

330ml bottle (Kaisla, Helskink)
Dark red, huge fluffy head. Massive malty and slightly alcoholic aroma. Similar taste, but very sweet - and actual sugar sweetness at that. Slight hint of raisins, but that’s not what provides the sweetness. Alcohol present, but not too intrusive. Quite fizzy in the mouth. I’m sure I’ve had better.
