COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

On draft at South Park Tavern, Dayton, OH. Poured a dark brown/amber color with minimal head. Aroma of hops. Taste of hops, a little sweet at first, but goes down with the hop flavors. Good good beer.

Pours a cloudy walnut brown with minimal to medium tan cream head. Nose is faint and of toasted almond, cream, and yeast. Taste is of malt, dark fruit, whisky, and salt with a dry wine, banana and slight hop finish. Has a smooth yet carbonated mouth, with resonating complexity.

Good head on this rich red ale. It has a very definite alcohol kick on the finish from the sugar. A very tasty beer.

Bottled. Brown amber with medium thick tan head, frothy. Aroma is fruits and yeast, light caramels, all boozy. Flavor is toffee and caramel sweet (almost too sweet) with some supporting hoppyness, bitter, sticky and fruit/floral, and notes of licorice. Ends sticky sweet and lightly bitter. Really drinkable for 10.5%.

Pours light brown with a thin white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is of some light fruits and a lot of hops with a little bit of alcohol. Taste is kinda strong on the booze but is followed up nicely with a slight sweetness and hoppy finish. Not as good as I thought it would be.

Pours black with a big tan head. Extremely sweet beer, you can really taste the yeastyness but there is also some roastyness that keeps it balanced and not overly sweet.

Labeled as a tripel, but goes down like a Belgian strong. Very sweet nose - aroma of malts, brown sugar and alcohol. Flavor is exactly what the nose advertises. Quite a tasty one.

Pours an off white head wiith a reddish dark amber color. Smells of plums, brown sugar and molasses. Sweet to the taste. Tastes a bit of blackberries and brown sugar. Smooth finish
