It’s a nice dark color that looks frothey on the top and inviting. It holds a good lacing and smells like a sweet and hoppy beer. It tastes sweet and hoppy with a wonderful balance of both flavors. It feels like silk and slides down my throat very easily. It’s a very drinkable, an excellent beer. Slipstream (746), USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Updated: Dec 18, 2007Fabulous white bottle, with a medieval-looking golden dragon (or is it a dog?) on the label. A big head comes foaming up and then sticks around. Dark brew with a mild, sweet aroma. The flavor is syrupy and malty, with hints of mead and raisins, and the brew is smooth on the palate. Hops and spices are barely noticable, but the 10.5% alchohol level comes thru very clearly. Sad to say, this is not as good as I hoped for. This is a mediocre Belgian hiding behind a cool label and bottle, and at $5 (US) for a 1/3 liter bottle, it was no bargain. MrBendo (1041), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Bottle with thanks to my Secret Santa. Cloudy reddish-brown with a large head. Good retention. Aroma of toffee, dark fruit, caramel malt and yeast. Medium sweet and a heavy body. Alcohol well covered. Slightly syrupy texture. BlackOut (43), East End, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Interesting taste, kinda sour, lots of cherries but not the kriek way. I was good, very filling, after having it i wasn’t sure if i want another one. wilderthanyou (413), Guelph, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Pours a dark dark amber, with a nice big froathy sicky head. Aroma is sweet, with notes of berry, and caramel most prominent. Flavour is sweet, with lots of berry goodness, and like the the aroma promises a little bit of caramel. The beer is a touch unbalanced with only a little hop bitterness at the end, but I like the flavour so much I didn’t mind. The beer gets better as it warms up. Meatwad (26), New York, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Appearence: Big head, great retention but the carbonation was not obscene. Beautiful, golden red color
Taste: Oaky, cherry, sweet flavor, but you can still taste the hops. You can taste a lot of alcohol too and the fruity, sweet, alcohol taste makes it seem like a cross between wine and beer. This stuff was great, though. I may have to re-rate this one. Pwn3d (1052), Manhattan, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Bottle, just like in the image. Pours dark brown with nice off whitehead. Complex taste which is hard to accurately recollect on. Roasted buttery notes with hints of alcohol. Sugary sweet with yeast and toffee - yet hops are noticeable. I hope to have more of this. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2007 Pours dark brown with off white head. The aroma is sugar sweet with a touch of berries. The flavor is sweet but with some bitterness. The alcohol is very present. You need to like sweet belgian beers for this.
