COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

A dark-red coloured, full bodied, oily beer with a huge, but early disappeared off-white head. The aroma is fruity and also yeasty. The taste is very sweet with notes of dried fruits, grape, raisin, cherry, caramel and chocolate. And the 10,5 % ABV, of course, you feel it but it doesn’t matter.

it is simply the best beer I’ve ever tasted, it surpasses them all ! It has aromas of banana and caramel, it reaches its full potential for temperature not too cold (more than 8 ° C indicated on the bottle)

I first had this beer in York, UK @ Evil Eye pub and ever since then it has been my favorite Belgian beer. It is a heavy beer with a very rich flavor. Whoever wrote the description above hit the nail on the head; this is a perfect "dessert beer!"

Assez sombre, le goût reste plutôt amère. Brune pas trop forte malgré les 10,5° on ne les sent pas trop.

33 cl, bottle. Pours a thick, long duration, ivory head, with some lacing, over an almost clear copper (SRM 18) body...nose is sweet malts with dried cherry, plum, fig, brown sugar....taste is sweet dried fruits including raisin, fig, cherry, hints of brown sugar, finishing with a medium phenolic, slightly harsh, spice bitterness....mouth feel is light, alcohol present, carbonation low. This represents the style quite well. It is almost an Abt/Quad in some characteristics, and it is less complex in the fruit layers than many others. The finishing astringent bitterness cuts the sweetness a great deal. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7
