Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

This is a unique beer, and very tasty! It pours a cloudy deep maroon with huge frothy beige head with spicey aroma. The taste is full of sweet toffee and dry fruits with a balanced tartness.

Enticing white glass bottle with a rather hefty price tag attached. Captivating opaque brown color, thick tan head and real nice crazy lacing. This looks great. Dark fruits, yeast, and a heavy dose of sugar permeate the air above the glass. There is a blatant alcohol nose associated with the aroma as well letting you know that this glass will take some time. Sweet and gritty on the palate with a huge alcohol burn, sturdy would be an understatement in describing this beer. Flavor comes across as a Belgian beer mixed with a sweet dry red wine. Plenty of grapes and plums with a big Belgian yeastiness. Musty and flavorful, fairly sweet with that already familiar alcohol harshness. This is a big beer in all aspects, pretty darn good but too pricey to be a regular.

A great malty aroma, pours opaque, with some deep red around the edges. Great beer, really one you can feel in your mouth. Citrucy after taste.

Invitingly sweet-smelling, with toffee-caramel aromas and some dates too. Color is a bit on the mousy side and looks a tad thinner than I remember...but it’s still a nice beer. Very good breadiness in the body, also raisins. Smooth and good.

11.2 oz. bottle (thanks, Acknud!) pours a beautiful chocolate brown with fluffy head. Medium sized bubbles interspersed with big, sticky ones, leading to significant lacing as the head recedes. This 10.5% ABV is not hidden, but rather, quite "in your face." Aroma of sweet, mellow malt is overtaken by the bitter taste of alcohol in front palate. But this burn mellows to a toffee sweetness followed by yeast and a finish of bitter chocolate and malt. This one has a definite kick and is not for the weak at heart. This would be a beautiful beer for a nice cold evening in front of the fireplace

strong alcohol taste right out of the bottle! but gratefully that settles down fast. mellow indeed! creamy slick and nice honey/vanilla tone in there. earthy and spirited this is a belgium brew that is just nice and different enough. easy on the traditional belgian spice. and infused with that wonderful sweetness that truly grows on you. soft carbonation...gonna have to re-rate this. nice nice brew.

Very nice dark ruby in color with small foamy cream head and good lacing. Aroma is strong, malty and fruity. Full body, very malty and sweet with notes of brown sugar. Nice hop finish. Alcohol is evident but blends well.
