Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

12 oz Bottle - Pours a dark brown/rubyish color with a good, long-lasting head and mild lacing. Aroma is malt, sweetness, light fruit, and undertones of alcohol. Taste is strong, robust, malty, sweetmess, and slight alcoholic aftertaste. Pretty good brew, but also pricey @ $18 for a four pack.

Out of the bottle... poured a dark nut brown color with a thick off-white head. Aroma is strong with sweet malts and fruit with a mild smell of alcohol. The flavor is strong with dark fruits, figs and plums and brown sugar. Sweet malts and alcohol are very strong, but complimented by the fruit and brown sugar. Overall, a very good ale.

Belgian #3... Poured a nice clear dark brown with a thick off white head that really had staying power. At first i was taken aback because it reminded me of a poorer belgian i had recently consumed, but as i sniffed and tasted a little more i really warmed up to this beer. An attractive and tasty belgian, not my favorite, but not one i regret buying.

Draft @ Gingerman (NYC) - Deep brownish red, thin creamy off-white head. Nose held sweet notes of port, fig, cotton candy, raisin, and brown sugar. Flavor was sweet as well with candied dark fruits and toffee brittle tones sitting on soft vinous waves. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying sweet finish. Nice late night sipper...

11.2 bottle. Served in a Duvel tulip @ 49°. Huge four fingered head. Darker than I expected at a reddish amber. Dark fruits, yeast, lemon, and vanilla aroma. Initial taste is raisins, plums, yeast and vanilla followed by brown sugar, warming alcohol, dark fruits. FInish is lingering alcohol and bitterness. Pretty tasty.

LOVED this beer. It bites you and then licks the wound. A cloudy reddish hue with a tremendous head an aroma. Tastes almost like a barley wine. Not very bitter but actually sweet with a caramel and hop finish. Interesting bottle design.....
