Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

33cL bottle. A nice, rather dark quad but a little too sweet for my taste. Very full body, but not heavy.

Beer courtesy of KingG, when I bought a couple of bottles from South Bay Liquors. Thanks Joey! Pour with no head, and small amount of medium bubbles appear when I swirl. Aroma is a little bit of that butter maltiness that I like, but also a small hint of sour? Color is the deepest of ambers. The bottle is cool and good for keeping he light out, but I can’t detect any sediment. The initial taste is a little rough. I don’t get the same sweetness that others sense, but the body is certainly thick. The alchohol makes it’s presence known, reducing drinkability. Is there some acidity?

Sweet malty smell. Reminds me of a cider. Tastes sweet and fruity, with a hint of honey. A good tripel but nothing exceptional.

Thick and Creamy head. The aroma is very complex. Fig, malts from what I can tell.. Much more to it Im sure.. Beautiful amber color.. looks to have some density to it. Very sweet taste. Goes down very well for a 10.5%, although my throat has definitely gotten much warmer since drinking it..
And who can beat the artwork? I feel badass to even hold it in my hands.

Beautiful amber pour with a thick creamy head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is sweet that mask the strong alcohol content. A little too sweet for my palate but still an outstanding brew.

750 mL. Pours a deep reddish chestnut brown with a thin dark tan head. Strong, sweet Belgian malt aroma with a hint of savory spices. Taste is pretty sweet as well, but here we have a too strong of a sweetness, which really takes over. This brews lacks a higher level of complexity that top-tier Belgian Strongs have. Still a quality brewm though.

Pours a deep brown with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma is fig, malt, and candy sugar. Taste is roughly the same, with some nice complexities in the taste. An excellent beer, and a pleasant surprise. Didn’t realize it was so alcoholic until after the fact; it’s well-hidden.
