SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA May 22, 2007 Bottle Dark brown pour with good sized head and good lacing. Strong aroma of raisins, malts, and spice. Flavor has more brown sugar and toffee. Hints of chocolate and some deep fruity notes. Very well hidden alcohol. Great mouthfeel. sloth (1658), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA May 22, 2007 Draft @ Statelineliquors last belgian tasting. Large tan head, retention is very good, sticky, webby lacing that lasts. Clear brown, red hued ale. Nose is fruity, lightly spicey and malty. Body is med/full, creamy on the palate, soft carbonation. Nice spicey flavors followed by lightly sweet caramelly notes and some dark fruits, raisins and a hint of plum and faint chocolatey notes to boot. Finish is kinda sweet, fruity and lasting. Nice brew, 10.5 % ? never would of guessed! Thanks Roberrrrrrt! holdenn (1432), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 22, 2007 12 oz bottle purchased from Andersonville Wine and Spirits. Pours a dark brown amber with a beige head ... i was expecting something a little more ... gulden. Complex malty nose, brown sugar, citrus, toffee, yeast, dried fruit, and alcohol. Similar sweet flavors with fruit and toffee dominating. The alcohol and phenols from it are very present, too much so for my liking. A little overcarbonated. But overall I was surprised by this beer I’ve passed up so many times. cab (862), Denmark May 22, 2007 Bottle. Tasted with Jesper from C4 Odense.
Sweet fruit and alkohol, very filling. full body, with a nice rocky head. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 21, 2007 Pours a deep amber brown color with a tan head. Aroma is malty, spicy, yeasty, with a hint of dried fruit. Flavor is malty, toffee, yeasty, some roastyness, and a light fruit finish. BeerBellyOSU (47), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 17, 2007 Cloudy, deep amber color, nice fluffy head. Smells very sweet and fruity, I can’t detect much of a hop presense with my nose. A very nice beer, malty and sweet fruit tastes to start, finished a little dry, almost like wine, probably because of that ABV. Willeyone22 (23), Yardley, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2007 bottle. Aroma of raisins and banana. Very sweet due to the unfermentable sugars, and surprisingly smooth considering the 10.5% alcohol content. Very pleased with this Belgian.
