Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

Pours a cloudy, particulate-filled deep amber with a very thin, mostly diminishing off-white head. Smells of rich caramel, grapes, faint hops, and dark pitted fruits. The taste is of brown sugar, caramel, some chocolate, sugar, citusy hops and booze. This a very full-bodied that lingers in the mouth for minutes after a sip. It’s a little in the sweet side and doesn’t hide the booze as well as other strong belgians.

This beer was poured into a snifter with no head at all. There is a hint of chocolate and malt and the taste is of chocolate and a hint of caramel.

Bottle. Creamy off-white head. Hazy dark red brown body. Aroma of caramel and brown sugar which is definately tasteable in the flavor which is actually relatively sweet. Alchol though very well hidden by the sweetness of the beer.

Mahagony-colored. Mild, sweet aroma. Lasting beige head with lacing. Several flavors on the tongue all at once, along with bubbling carbonation. Sweet carmel and toffee, a little spicy hoppiness, slightly buttery, some earthiness. Noticable alcohol aspect blends very well with these flavors. Really makes your mouth come alive!

White stubby bottle, poured a clear dark with ruby high lights, a off-white head appeared, hop floral aroma, roasted malt and dark malt fragrances, faint brown sugar and fruit on the nose, a nice dark malt flavor with some dark fruit berry sweetness in the mouth, a nice hop bite to go along with it, bubbly on the tongue, alcohol warmth in the throat, some licorice taste, dry on the palate, the sweetness is balanced well in this brew, good mouth feel, as it warms the alcohol wakes up and the sweetness grows some.

Bottle (a nice one). Brown colour with a tan head. Sweet fruity aroma with yeast & caramel. Sweet malty flavour with fruits & brown sugar. A bit alcoholic.

Bottled. Thick brown color with a one finger thick head. Not a very strong nose on this one. A nice faint fruity scent. Thick taste with lots of citris and almost an apple cider quality. The alcohol is easily noted but not overpowering. Easily bacame one of my favorites. Especially for around $4 a bottle. Very much worth a look.

Bottle. Opaque, hazy dark copper color with a chunky khaki head -- beautiful doily lacing all over the glass. Spicy aroma with a little fig. Almost overpowering taste, extremely thick mouthfeel with some banana, spicy hops, lots of alcohol.
