COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

A hazy, deep red beer with a thick tan head. The aroma is vinous and yeasty. The flavor is fruity, vinous, and sweet malt. Very tasty.

Al vaker gedronken maar nu voor een review... Ruikt fruitig en smaakt zoetig en wijnachtig. Medium body. Je proeft niet dat er zoveel alcohol in zit. Ik vind ’m wel lekker en het zal niet de laatste zijn geweest.

Dark brown color, with nice white head, foam sticks to the glass. Aroma’s: A lot of them, certainly caramel, bread, chocolate, coffee and lots more. Taste: Sweet, with a little bitterness to it. It is very well balanced. Palate: The body is full and creamy, with soft carbonation and a long taste. One of the best belgian beers availabe.

Dark brown, big pillowy off-white head. Aroma has cowberries, yeast, banana, malt and sugar. Taste is very sweet, malty, furity-spicy hints with lots of alcohol. Some vague hoppiness, but the sugary sweetness doesn’t let it dominate. A dessert beer with a winey, thick mouthfeel.

Appearance: Pours a thick opaque dark brown. Thick had that dissipated quickly. Aroma: Lots here, wow. Caramel, butterscotch, cherries, raspberries, strawberries. Hints of vanilla and banana. Palate: Thick. Creamy, slightly oily. Smooth finish, medium fizziness. Taste: Sweeeet. Strong alcohol taste. Taste is as complex as the aroma. Damn. I love you Belgium.

Flaske 0,33l på Afspanning t’ Waagstuk, Antwerpen 28 Apr 11. Dyprød / brun. Kremaktig skum. Behagelig fruktig aroma. Smaken: Lett i starten men nyanser strømmer på: Rosiner og plommer. Godt integrert. Vel mye på den søte side.

11.2 fl. oz. bottle from a shaker. Deep amber/brown pour with a tan head. aroma is dark fruits and breadiness. Taste is very sweet. Lots of dark fruit and full body. Great pairing with my strong meal.

33cl bottle. Brown with a lightly tanned head. Nose : Caramel, raisins. Quite fruity with a strong yeast background. A bit like malaga ice cream. Sip : Body with good carbonation. Creamy. Strong dried fruit start. Sweet caramel malts. Strong carbonation is procuring a refreshing feeling if served cold.
