jaghana (95), Strasbourg, France Aug 7, 2009 Bottle 33 cl. Dark beer with a heavy head. This beer is one of my favorite, good malty and rosted aroma as well as yeast fruit flavour. Nice body quite complex, sweet very pleasant. Some licorice taste at the finish. Dastrn (115), Warsaw, Indiana, USA Aug 7, 2009 Poured a cherry-chocolate brown. a little cloudy with a decent 2 finger foamy head.
Not terribly aromatic, but sweet and raisiny.
The taste was smoky and sour, with pine-sap, bread, and alcohol.
Mouthfeel was chewy and creamy. (THICK)
All around decent but Rochefort 10 was head and shoulders better. Maybe I got a slightly bad bottle. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Aug 6, 2009 11.2 oz bottle-Pours a hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of fruit, alcohol, and sweetness. Taste is the same. A different but still quite tasty full bodied brew. DigitalMan (113), Idaho, USA Aug 2, 2009 A dark triple? Strong dark fruity aroma with lots of alcohol. Thin head, deep orange color. Flavor is in line with aroma. Fagner (19), São Paulo, Brazil Aug 2, 2009 Bottle in São Paulo (with my good friend Itamar Cunha) - It is dark hazy brown beer with a light tan head. Strong carbonation, with aroma of dried fruits, alcohol hints (and sweet taste as well). A good beer after all! dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Jul 31, 2009 330ml bottle poured into 500ml Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a dark hazy brown, almost black, medium tan head that dissipates quickly, but leaves a very thin head for most of the drink. Lots of carbonation, making it feel creamy, decent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruits, especially raisins, lots of yeast, and a bit of chocolate. Flavor just didn’t come together as well as I was hoping, but a decent drink nonetheless. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 31, 2009 Sample at the Aleksey Portfolio Show. Caramel, butter, and malt nose. Flavor of caramel and malt. Slightly metallic finish.
