COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Pours a dark nearly opaque amber with a nice pale head. Aroma is very fruity, a mixture of raisin, molasses, and maybe cherry? This beer is lively but not over-carbonated - it had a steady stream of bubbles throughout. Taste is intense. A heavy alcohol mixed with sour cherry and yet a little on the sweet side. Body is heavy, you can almost chew this one. Almost no bitter, not even at the end. The finish is a long lasting alcohol warmth. I’m not one for tripels but this one is a keeper. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Overall, this is a really good example of a dark tripel.

Barwa ciemnego bursztynu do jasnej brunatnej, lekko zmętnione. Smak podobny do aromatu. Piwo jest słodkawe. Piwo jest średnio pełne, nasycone w średnim do wysokiego stopniu. Alkohol nie jest natrętny, choć zdecydowanie wyczuwalny. Piwo o złożonym, ale szlachetnym charakterze.

What an amazing beer! My first initial impression upon taking the first sip was "wow". This is a wow beer. On the nose, you get red apples, grapes, plums, figs, brown sugar. On the taste I received a very sincere amount of dark fruits and a pleasurable amount of satisfaction! Appearance in the glass is what I would describe as a beautiful lady in a dark red dress. Overall, if your not satisfied with this beer, go suck on a Corona.

Bottle. Dried plums, yeast, tea, chocolate and liquier on nose. Fruity, deep taste with huge, sweet, malty notes. Bittersweet aftertaste. Full bodied, sticky with low carbonation. Complex malty ale.

Przecudowny aromat, alkohol w odpowiedniej temp. wyczuwalny w sposob szlachetny i bardzo przyjemny, piana niemalże zerowa aczkolwiek jest to do wybaczenia, prezentuje sie naprawdę ladnie i chetnie bede powracal do niego jeszcze nie raz.

Aroma of raisins and grape, pours a dark amber color with a lasting white well laced head. Fruity wine taste and a mild fruit finish with a full bodied feel.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2015 Butelka 0,33 oczywiscie z Lidla. Aromat suszonych owocow i skorki od chleba. W smaku podobnie, ale z czasem zaczalem wyczuwac posmak metaliczny. Test na skorze wykazal, ze jest z tym spory problem. Alkohol slabo wyczuwalny.

Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. Very good beer. Great deep brown chocolate colour with a nice creamy head. The aroma is chocolate and barley. Great taste with dark chocolate notes, and a little of coffee. Strong chocolate palate. Try it, love it !
