Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Amber with off white head - Sweet malt aroma with hints of caramel - Good malt body that has some sweet caramel with some dark fruity flavours and hints of peppery and spicy flavours with some heat from alcohol - The malt goes into the finish with some caramel notes and some alcohol heat in the back - This was good

Bottle (11.2oz, about $5) Murk brown, 2 finger head. Sweet Belgian yeast aroma. Taste is sweet and fruity. Nice alcohol finish. Would drink this all day but for the price.

Excellent beer! Looks is rather unimpressive, reddish brown with a small head, but not bad either. Imagine: that’s the worst thing about it. Rest is really awesome: tastes of corn bread with honey, caramelized fruits, a lot of figs and soft raisins. Just lovely! Alcohol taste is really well masked and I can only say this beats the Chimay Bleu hands down and is on the same level with the Rochefort 8 if not better! Absolutely must try!

Bottle - reddish brown, small head, medium carbonation. Fruity aroma. Ok in mouth on tongue. Smooth tasting - caramel but not too sweet. Overall ok for high alcoholic Belgium beer.

NICE!

Mouse abondante, belle couleur rubis. Épaisse en bouche, liquoreuse. Goût caramel et épices. L’alcool est bien présent, j’aime...

Very nice dark amber with a soft reddish head, the look reminds a lot a sweet wine indeed. The aroma confirms that impression as it’s very rich of sweet fruits like strawberries. And the beer sure is sweet, with a low carbonation and full bodied, like a fruit syrup. No trace of alchol in the taste, despite the 10.5% ABV. Very good if you love sweet belgian beers.

Fat @ Taproom, Malmö. Brunorange öl med ett fint smutsvitt skum. Dofter av malt, karamell, frukt och örter. Smakinslag av frukt, malt, örter och socker. Lite väl söt för min del. Bittersöt avslutning.

A bit high carbonation for my taste. Cloudy dark amber with no to little lacing. I could drink this one again. The ABV isn’t recognizable to taste..it’s an easy drinker with a pleasant flavor...tad on the sweet side with absolutely no bitter.
