COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Sterk aroma van alcohol, maar smaak is koffie-achtig, fruitig en zoet. Een goed dessertbier.

Wow -- this is really nice! It’s a trippel, but a bit more maltiness. Quite smooth, despite the carbonation.

The beer pours dark brown with a ruby tones when held up to a light. The smell is very rich and malty. The taste is strong with hints of dried fruits like apricots and cherries. You can definitely feel the alcohol, but it's we'll balanced with the malty flavors so it's no bother. Rolling the beer, you can feel the heaviness of it. Very good beer, highly recommend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours ruby brown. Thick tan head. Aroma is high: molasses, caramel, dates, cinnamon, liqueur. Very powerful and well structured. Good balance between sweet, metallic and bitter. Very long ending with hints of cookies and caramel. Formidable.

Bottle @ Beer Art. Small off-white head, full body, dark amber color, fizzy carbonation, generally strong in alcohol. Moderate sweetness, with tastes of plum, prune, raisins, dry fruits, licorice, molasses, burned brown sugar, aromas of brandy, sweet red wine, bitter finish. Good variety in aromas and tastes, but way too sweet for my taste. Was combined with plate of sausages, but I can’t say it was the best of choices.

Bottle 0.33l (27.01.2017). Dark copper colour. Beige head, frothy but short. Delicate lacing. Malt and fruits in aroma characteristic for belgian beers with small bread notes. Nice but not so intensive as I expected. No alcohol in aroma. Heavy sweet, malty, a bit fruity and wine in taste. Strong alcohol well hidden, you feel only the warm inside your stomach and in your throat. Very nice, sweet , long aftertaste with very small alcohol note. Full body, oily, sweet, average carbonated, you drink it very slow but with pleasure. Generally strong and sweet with hidden power so be careful.

Bottle 330ml. Clear copper with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with notes of caramel, prune and dried fruits, kind of fruits liqueur. The flavor has notes of caramel and spices, very boozy, notes of dried fruits and raisin, light sourness with lingering alcohol warmth. Lively carbonation, medium-bodied. Very alcoholic, quite hard to drink.

Aromat ziołowy, chmielowy. Miedziane, klarowne. piana dość szybko opadająca. W smaku - wyśmienite! Mocno "belgijskie", estrowo-fenolowe, przyprawowe, ciemne owoce, dojrzały banan. Wysycenie wysokie. Ogólnie świetne.

Dark mahogany color with a nice off-white head. Aroma sweet and fruity, plum, raisins, dark sugar, some zest. Taste very full, borderline syrupy, high carbonation, some bitterness, lots of warming alcohol. Something wrist is the taste, otherwise dark fruit, burnt raisins, fruit compote. This sucker is reaaaly heavy. I made a mistake of tasting it on a very hot day, but it’s definitely winter weather. Belgian winter, at that...

Dark brown pour, tan head. Nose is muted coco and some funky yeast. Bittersweet. Middle is chocolate malt, hint of spice, yeast, and dark fruit. Finish dries somewhat. Subtle, well structured beer.
