Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Pours mahogany with a yellowish head. Aromas of dark fruit, yeast, and caramelized sugar. Tastes of toffee, clove, burnt sugar, apple, maybe a little banana. A hint metallic. Nice and smooth, overall an awesome dark Belgian.

The pour is a nice golden brown, with plenty of head. The nose is complex, and even greater so with a little bit of breathing. It caramel, dried fruits and many spices to be extremely well balanced triple. The favor, like the aroma is complex and quite great, hints of dried fruit, belgian candy sugar, yeast. The overall experience hides itís alcohol content better that the legendary Scaldis brand, and is a true pleasure to drink. Will be drinking this again, and maybe quite often.

This beer pours a nice finger width of head. Itís a nice dark color that looks frothey on the top and inviting. It holds a good lacing and smells like a sweet and hoppy beer. It tastes sweet and hoppy with a wonderful balance of both flavors. It feels like silk and slides down my throat very easily. Itís a very drinkable, an excellent beer.

One of the best looking beers I've seen. Dark red with a tan head. Aroma is of malt and sweetness. Taste is very sweet and you can taste lots of alcohol. Looks better than it tastes.

Aroma allergies ect... Dark brown with a Duvel esque head. Almost opaque and few bubbles. Semi-sweet chocolate taste. Alittle too sweet but not undrinkable. And the nice smooth chocolate taste more than makes up for it (putting it well above average). Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Good good brew.

Thick, syrupy aroma and a deep golden brown color. Splitting this bottle with a roommate on account of its whopping 10.5% ABV. A subtle sweetness lingers in the taste, too. This reminds me more of some sort of after-dinner liquor concoction than a beer. Still, remarkably smooth despite its alcoholic bite. Not my favorite style, but itís one of the bes strong ales Iíve had recently. A must-try for Belgian trippel lovers.

Pours a dark brown, slightly translucent. Nice 2 finger head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is sweet, caremlized sugars and malt. Taste is sweet, subtle roasted malt, a bit of puckering sourness, fruity, with an almost metallic aftertaste that I could do without. Palate-wise, the beer is a bit too carbonated, with tightly nit bubbles tickling the tongue. Even with itís issues, still a great tasting and very enjoyable beer!

Bottle, pours nice red colour, nice head, vanished fast. Smells sweet, first taste is sweet, lozs of alcool, some malty notes. Ok, but too sweet for me.
