COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Draft. Chocolate toffee flavor, nutty roasted undertones. Creamy mouth feel. Warm alcohol, caramel right off the bat on flavor and aroma.

Rating number #200 : Bottle. Pours a dark ruby body, with a light brown head that diminishes fairly quickly, leaving a very good lace. Faint aroma of roasted malts, a little alcoholic, but somewhat metallic, which I didn’t like. Heavy sweet taste, with notes of alcohol, sugar, curacao, roasted malts. Low to average carbonation level, medium bodied, oily texture. A nice treat.

Very alcoholic nose, body a bit too weak for such a ABV. Huge rocky head. Starts off sweet, but has a sour tange in the finish.

Vermelha, levemente turva. Espuma abundante de média duração. Aroma adocicado de caramelo e madeira. Sabor adocicado com álcool perceptível. Notas de caramelo, baunilha, melado e doce de leite. Retrogosto adocicado com final alcoólico.

Very sour and not quite my taste. Some light maltiness but well hid behind the lemon.

Not at all what I was expecting from a triple. Cloudy, brown body with a tall tan head. VERY different in both aroma and taste. Loads of malt in the flavor, toffee, some fruit also. Odd flavor that took some getting used to, but once I did, it ejoyed it. The 10.5% alcohol was nice too. The fact that it came in a fully painted bottle rocked, good beer overall.

pours a murky dark brown with a massive beige coloured head. aroma is all sweet malts, molasses and caramel. taste is on the sweet side with not much hops at all. not quite sure how this is a Triple, and not a Quad. feels lovely on the palate. full bodied and syrupy, medium carbonation. the perfect after dinner beer.
