This has been one of my favorite 'standard' Belgians for a while now. Quite sweet but with just enough trailing bitterness to ensure it's not too cloying. Great dessert beer to be sipped & savoured.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Red-brown with ruby highlights which was a surprise, I was expecting a golden tripel. Big frothy white head that lasted a whole Premiership match. Yeasty, fruity, spicy, slightly solventy aroma. Flavour very true to the aroma, big belgium yeast character and spicy, fruity flavours. Some caramelly malt, and then hot alcohol on a dry finish. A bit harsh for my liking.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very aromatic with notes of dried fruit, cellar, candi sugar, and some alcohol and black pepper.
Fantastic, deep, chestnut colour.
Taste is saturated sweetness from plums, lots of dried fruit and malt.
CO2 is typically soda-like. Nice roundness and full-bodied.

Dark auburn pour. Tan silky head. Fades with minor coverage. Fruity bouquet. Hints of cherry and dough. Fairly complex for my palate. Very thick and heavy, yet smooth. Sweet on the tongue that lingers with the nice heat of the alcohol. Very port like, with a strong malty presence. A nice sipper after a dinner. Intrigued to marinate some steaks in this beer. Well crafted and unique.

33 cl bottle poured to trappist glass with amber/brown body and thin caramel colored head that slowly dissipates. Aroma is malt and figs. The taste is sweet with surprisingly thin mouth-feel. Slight alcohol aftertaste that warms the belly. Overall an excellent beer (don’t chill it too much)

Very good ruby beer with strong caramel malt. Good presence of alcohol. It’s powerful and, in my opinion, beats some underestimate strong ale like Westmalle.
