Commercial Description:
Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "eat" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume.

i really liked this one. nose is sweet, malty and just smells like an awesome beer. taste is very sweet, unusual for a belgian strong. almost like drinking candy. an unusual belgian strong that i would recommend to anyone that is wanting to try something that taste different but is not offensive. good brew.

Chestnut brown with lots of foamy head. Aroma is vinous with alcohol presence and lots of caramel malts. Taste is quite sweet with notes of toffee and spice. Alcohol bit to it as it goes down smooth.

Bottle Pours out a mahogany topped with a nice head. Aroma of sweet caramel and pit fruit. Tast more of the sweetness. Some syrup and pit fruit. I also picked up plenty of malts.

From 330 ml sampler bottle pour red to brown with a nice fat off-white head and good lacing. Nose of citrus hops, fruit, caramel malts and spices. Smooth and rich mouthfeel. Flavor is slightly sweet and finish is slightly bitter. Alcohol hidden well.

Draft @ Statelineliquors last belgian tasting. Large tan head, retention is very good, sticky, webby lacing that lasts. Clear brown, red hued ale. Nose is fruity, lightly spicey and malty. Body is med/full, creamy on the palate, soft carbonation. Nice spicey flavors followed by lightly sweet caramelly notes and some dark fruits, raisins and a hint of plum and faint chocolatey notes to boot. Finish is kinda sweet, fruity and lasting. Nice brew, 10.5 % ? never would of guessed! Thanks Roberrrrrrt!

Sampled thanks to sixfootsix. Pours a clear brown with decent sustainable tan head. Nose of raisin, plum, chocolate. Flavor is dark fruits, yeast. There is a nice warming quality but this manages to mask the alcohol quite well. Soft on the palate. I enjoyed this quit a bit. Extra point for the cool label, but that’s canceled out by the price :(

Awesome bottle. Pours a dark red, almost black, with a nice thin, but lasting head. The taste is a nice mellow fruit, some apple cinnamon taste, a great bitter hop finish, and almost no notice of how strong it is. All hail the golden dragon!
