Large tan head, retention is very good, sticky, webby lacing that lasts. Clear brown, red hued ale. Nose is fruity, lightly spicey and malty. Body is med/full, creamy on the palate, soft carbonation. Nice spicey flavors followed by lightly sweet caramelly notes and some dark fruits, raisins and a hint of plum and faint chocolatey notes to boot. Finish is kinda sweet, fruity and lasting. Nice brew, 10.5 % ? never would of guessed! Thanks Roberrrrrrt! Butters (1688), Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Sampled thanks to sixfootsix. Pours a clear brown with decent sustainable tan head. Nose of raisin, plum, chocolate. Flavor is dark fruits, yeast. There is a nice warming quality but this manages to mask the alcohol quite well. Soft on the palate. I enjoyed this quit a bit. Extra point for the cool label, but that’s canceled out by the price :( douglas88 (1686), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a dark red, almost black, with a nice thin, but lasting head. The taste is a nice mellow fruit, some apple cinnamon taste, a great bitter hop finish, and almost no notice of how strong it is. All hail the golden dragon!
