Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Nice brown sugar-like flavor, with some caramel; sweet, but balanced with some bitterness. A lot of spicy and apple-ish flavor from the yeast.

330ml bottle at home, present from Stuartyboy (bb 14 Aug 2015), malty, apple aroma, hazy deep brown with a thick, creamy, beige head, apple, toffeeapple, caramel , viscous, very sweet, hides the high abv very well, fruity, estery aftertaste.

Pours a dark ruby color with a medium and long lasting white head. Smell is sweet, subtle and slightly herbal. Taste is very, very sweet - perhaps a bit too sweet for my taste. Sweet malts, caramel, herbs, spices... If you love your beers sweet, youve hit the jackpot with this one. Medium body, medium carbonation, creamy texture. As with the 9000 quadruple, alcohol is mostly present in the finish. Rocking the same 10.5% ABV, this one is sure to warm you up. Overall, this is a quality strong ale. At the end of the day it will come to your personal preference - do you love your beers sweet or not? If you do - dont miss on this one.

Caramel aroma. Hazy dark ruby with a bid head. Taste is dominated by sweetness and hints of dry berries. Full body. Not long enough finish though.

Pretty pour, complex taste, & hides the alcohol quite well. It is very well balanced & goes down smooth! Quite nice!
