COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Dark red/brown. Small beige head Strong aromas of molasses, yeast, syrup Flavours of molasses, with Malts and herby notes. Full bodied, smooth, the high alcohol is balanced quite well and doesn't overpower. Great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours slighly hazy, red-brownish body, nice white head. aroma is belgian-like, very sweet and pleasant. sweet, low bitterness, definitely full-bodied, some notes of alcohol. nothing really exceptional, yet it’s not boring at all. i imagine it would be a good choice for food pairing.

Aroma is apple, pear, beligian sugar candy, wild yeast and biscuit. Taste is very well balanced. Dark fruit flavour with a smooth bitterness amd warm mouth feel to finish. Body is a clear dark amber with a bubbly head that retains well.

Huele a alcohol y sabe a alcohol. Muy dulce y ligeramente afrutada. Desde luego no es mi estilo. Para maridar.

Fantastic barley wine. Vert fruity and fresh despite the 10,5 pct. Good as a starter or with red meat.

Hazy liquid, red color like caramelized sugar with water. Big head, strong and steady. Medium to soft carbonation. Full body, lightly bitter, heavy to medium sweetness. Fruity aroma, could taste melon. Very good.

Red amber color, huge tan head and fair amount of lacing. Full body, lively carbonation. Aroma is caramel malts, overripe fruits, yeast, spices, dark fruits. Very, very sweet. Too sweet for my taste. Other than that, it’s very good.

Dark brown colour, light brown mighty head. Very malty and chocolate aroma. The taste is overwhelmingly sweet, nearly hiding the coffee and chocolate aroma. Only light bitterness.

The aroma is simply amazing, with hints of caramel, coffee, perhaps even chocolate. The colour is a dark red, but not completely black. The head stays on nicely and is white/brown. In terms of taste it is medium sweet and medium bitter. It has a lively carbonation and a creamy feel. Very strong. Perfection does not exist, but this is close. A must drink and one of my personal favourites.

Super bouteille, belle mousse bien dense, en goût, le caramel et houblon, épicé grille et sucre, faible bulles, goût fort mais s échappe rapidement.. Excellente bière que je recommande.

Fantastic Belgian strong ale! Although the ABV is 10.5%, the alcohol is not overwhelming at all. Yeasty, typical abbey notes and flavors. Great brew.
