Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Bottle from Belgian Beer Shop.com. Hazy amber. The head is thick and off white. Leaves a very nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is filled with fruits. It’s sweet, vinous and yeasty. A very intense smell. The taste is very complex with licorice, spices, malts and yeast. The mouthfeel is very full and rich. A very long medium bitter finish. This is one of my all time favorites.

Bottle poured a murky brown hue w/ a medium lasting creamy beige head. Moderate sweet aromas of brown sugar, dark breads and figs. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are brown sugar, honey mead, Belgian sugar, vodka, dark breads and figs. Full bodied and warm finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma dulce, a alcohol (agradable).

Reddish amber color. No head at all. Not even a bubble on its surface. Sweet and strong alcoholic brew.

TUmmanpunaruskea, paksu vaahto joka katoaa aika nopeasti. Haju mieto, maku loppua kohden aika makea.

I don’t think that long review is needed in case of such a popular beer and have only three words for Gulden Draak: tasty, stylish, strong. Big plus for availability.

A real favourite of mine. Festive aromas of treacle ginger cake and a warming, satisfying taste.

Mooi donker amber bier. Schuim en koolzuur hetzelfde als de quadrupel. De quadrupel is echter qua smaak veel completer.
