COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Bottle. Reddish brown with a very large tan head. Aroma of dates, sourness, and malt notes. Medium body with malt sweetness, caramel notes, and a warm alcohol finish.

Gulden Draak -- I don’t get it. Why is it rated so high? Aroma is malty and a bit boozy. Head is a foamy off-white on top of a dark brown pour. Taste is malty again with some hop balance but very boozy. Not much complexity here. Gulden Draak isn’t bad but doesn’t particularly appeal to me.

Bottle Kirsty brought back from the Netherlands many moons ago - no exaggeration to say I have probably had this in my stash for well over two years - mainly due to the 10.5% ABV. Pours brown, like a diarrhetic buffalo’s contrail. This is worryingly easy to knock back - slight fruit cake, pudding mix, treacle, citrus but deceptively light - 6-7% maybe, but 10.5%? Delicious and smooth. This is special. Take a bow, son. Take a bow.

Color Rubí oscuro con densa y duradera espuma beige. Aromas de caramelo, regaliz y compota. Cuerpo denso, inicio dulce de regaliz y frutas confitadas y final decir, algo alcohólico y ligeramente tostado.

One of the best in the world, don't miss the chance to taste it. The right balance of alcohol and malts in a dark beer will enhance your senses. Don't be fooled with the smoothness, it has high ABV! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Well well my my look what Santa left under my tree. Bottle pulled from 6 pack sampler. Table polish brown in the glass. Thin sheet of foam on 34% of the surface. This is pure candy store Belgian Ale. I get rock candy, after dinner port & grape soda in each sip. The finish is interesting: like biting into a ripe apple. Perhaps not the best pre-dinner brew in the fridge. Mrs Tiki steals a sip from my glass & man does that maple syrup loving Quebecois girl love this. Word to wise: save this one for dessert.
