Illuminatus (87), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Nov 12, 2006 330mL bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark red, with a medium-sized, off-white head. Plenty of fruit in the aroma - banana, apple cider (not unattractive), another fruit that I can’t exactly name. Maybe the slightest touch of vanilla? First flavour makes sure that you know that it’s a Belgian ale, sweetish, middle-of-the-tongue spicyness. Alcohol is definitely noticeable if you take more than a sip, and it’s a little too noticeable for me. Slight port and dark fruits in the flavour, less than I expected. I have to admit, I’m let down by this one. The alcohol’s much too present, and it takes a lot away from the flavours. I actually drainpoured what was left of this one.
dyetube (371), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 20, 2008 This beer pours a dark brown with a medium white head that dissipates very quickly. Very lively carbonation. The aroma is flower and caramel as is the flavor. This beer has a strong pronounced alcohol to it! This was a very good beer. Cheers! BoBoChamp (255), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex, hazy, rocky head, very good brew A_R (277), Georgia, USA Jul 19, 2008 Brown pour with a medium head The flavors were a nice blend of sweet caramel, dark fruits, and a slight coffee tint. There is also an alcohol presence and a dry, lingering aftertaste. Todeon (145), Höllviken, Sweden Jul 17, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008Bottle. Nice redbrown color. Taste is very sweet with lots of burnt sugar, caramel and fruity notes with some plums in it aswell. Shaftie (18), , Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Smells of fresh-baked bread, pours a dark amber, with no head and a lively bit of CO2 is noticable. Sweet and spicy, with alot of drinkability, hides ABV well. Finish is tarty. Very good quad
