Not a great beer at all, not terrible, I wouldnt buy it again. I was expecting substantially more. It was bizarre, almost enjoyable, but ultimately weird. too salty to be drinkable, but interesting and glad i tried it.

22oz bottle. Lightly hazed golden orange with a frothy white head. Nose was sweet and salty nuts with some faint hops....weird.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 Crit (2841) - New Westminster, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 28, 2010
All butterscotch in nose and flavor. Why would someone make a beer to taste like it had diacetyl? Even if it didn’t?
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 mgermani (936) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 28, 2007
Pours a murky brown with an off-white head and minimal lace. OMG Ponies! Sweet malty aroma! Strong and present smell of semi-refined sugar. Tastes hoppy and nutty with notes of toffee. Very confusing aftertaste. Body is milky, but more like skim milk, as it is watery and thin. Low carbonation does not help. I cannot get my head around this beer - the hop schedule is confusing and the flavours don’t really blend. Murky and unappetizing.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 10, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2006 (Draught) Sampled at Christie’s Carriage House in Victoria on August 10, 2006. Pours a thin, white head and a deep reddish body. Much darker than any APA I’ve seen but the flavour is undeniable. Very hoppy à la West Coast. Oranges, citrus, tangerines and strong malt balance. Very enjoyable... especially since this is the first beer by Gulf Islands that wasn’t flat (all three of their Salt Sping bottles).
