Bottle. Dark amber pour with a good white head. Some lacing on the glass. Berries and other fruits in the aroma. Berries again in the taste with alcohol hints. Some Bock hints. A bit too much alcohol hints but surely drinkable.

Caramel aroma. Ruby color. Thin but lasting head. First touch is sweet, then with a hint of roasted bitterness. Medium body.

33cl bottle. Dark ruby pour, clear with a tan head. Smells like caramel and boiled corn. Bitter-sweet with a rough alcohol and a green beer feeling. Not too good.

Clear reddish brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt and spices. Full body and soft carbonation. Sweet taste which lingers. Malt, toffee, dark fruits, some bitterness but a sweet finish. Lovely appearance, good lacing, but let down by the rest.

The beer looks very nice. The color is a nice reddish brown, with an orange glow. The beer is crystal clear, but because of the dark color it is hard to see trough. The beer pours a normal amount of slightly of white foam. The foam is soft but collapses rather quickly. A tiny drape of foam remains to cover the beer. The beer has a beautiful smell. It is very rich. First of all you can smell the alcohol. This gives a little burning sensation to the nose, which really gives the aroma’s a positive kick. It also smells spicy. I smell some cinnamon. The smell has a very strong sweet caramel aroma, this particular aroma is very nice. The caramel also has a certain bitterness. The smell is sweet, but it doesn’t feel out of balance. The taste is amazing. It is very strong on one hand, but on the other very distinguished. The taste of alcohol is clearly present. You can feel the alcohol tingle your mouth. This gives the beer a very warning sensation. This is very nice and makes the beer perfectly suitable for the winter period. The taste has a perfect balance between the rich sweetness of the caramel and the bitterness, that is also caused by the caramel. There is also a licorice flavor, that gives a bit of bitterness to. The beer also has a little almond flavor, a nice rich nuttiness. I also taste some brown sugar, which gives a nice dark sweetness. The beer also has a minimal oaky and smokey flavor, in a far distance. This gives just the right amount of excitement to the beer. This sure is a great winter beer, but what would you aspect from a great brand like Gulpener.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
