COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A black, top-fermented beer with a firm brown head and a pleasant bitterness from roasted barley and chocolate malt, and from centennial, fuggles, East Kent golding and cascade hops. The bitterness is around 60 IBU. The malt bill is pale malt, cara munich, cara crystal, chocolate and a little roasted barley. The malt leaves a residual sweetness that matches the bitterness. To complete the flavour profile, the beer is aged on roasted oak chips.

Bottle: Thanks to Fonefan: Vast medium creamy light tan head, disappears slow, on top of a deep dark brown colored beer. Smell is a delicious soft smell of vanilla, coffee, light sweet balanced dark fruit, cocos, hint of alcohol. Really good smell! Taste is very well balanced, you taste the oak and vanilla of the chips, soft and smooth: hint of coffee, light roasted malts, roasted herbs, some darker fruits, light bitter, smooth. Aftertaste of roasted herbs, light coffee and a hint of vanilla. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. Delicious beer, soft, smooth, lovely smell and well balanced.

Small yellow-beige, shortlived head over near-black beer. Warm, sweet-smelling roasted notes, faintly smoked, roasted nuts in sugarsyrup, and a hint at whisky. And quite some coffee, smelt from a distance. Burnt, roasted, but with a very sweet streak; liquorice, treacle syrup and again ending on sweet alcohol, Bourbon- or whisky-like. Not very thick, certainly not for the style. Slight oilyness, and alcoholwarming. Nice stout - txs J. & C. ! ; but I’m very surprised to learn it hasn’t beer whiskyvat-lagered - it tastes and smells like.
