Gusswerk Blabk Betty is Salzburg’s dark beer beauty. From Salzburg Alps, this is an organic beer which is black as night, with herbs that found their use as early as prehistoric times. A special beer with the taste of wormwood, ground ivy, ground elder and meadowsweet. Black Betty - there is nothing like it! 12.8°

Ingredients: water, organic barley malt, organic wormwood, organic ground ivy, organic ground elder, organic meadowsweet, organic hops, yeast.

33cl bottle from Bierzwerg. - Drinkable, but all elements taste far more watery & doughy than the extravagant recipe + marketing indicate. Not that spicy, not that black (transparent brown), bland but not vile.

Oh my.. what is this? A beer made with all types of herbs that is organic and malty. Slightly like a caramel stout, with a herbal rainbow. Like a coffee with a shot of something in it.

Thanks Mladen! Shared with the others. Amber-brown body. Perfumey, nicely grainy dry malty aroma, fresh. Mild grainy and dusty sweetish taste, a touch acidic, a hint of spent yeast. Eh, just OK.

Bottle in a hotel room in Vienna. Dark brown colored with a medium sized off-white head. Fruity aroma of caramel and licorice with notes of herbs and spices. Fruity flavor of caramel and herbs with notes of licorice and spices. Herbal finish.

Horny Betty war der Hammer, Black Betty ist enttäuschend! Schmeckt fast wie sehr verdünntes Stout. Wenig vielschichtig, eigentlich eher langweilig. Hat im Glas eine schöne Farbe, bräunlich mit Off-White Krone. Die Flasche ist auch toll gemacht. Leider ist weder das Aroma noch der Geschmack es wert, groß darauf einzugehen! Dark brown color with an off-white head that disappears very quickly. Aroma is a little bit hoppy and alcoholic. Flavor is roasted malt and hoppy. Low carboantion and medium to full body with a bitter finish.

330 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Clear Cola blackish brown colour with a thick ring of yeast sediments; Half finger head and light beige foam which lasts for 1 minute; Very good sticky lacing and very slight carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of dark malt, with strong caramel, light toffee, roasted chestnuts, rock sugar, light floral, very light herbs, bread, strong yeast and very light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of dark malt, with strong caramel, toffee, light roast, light dark fruits, faint chocolates, molasses, spices, strong yeast, light lemon and moderate bitter grass hops; Close to light body, watery and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is like a light Porter but not quite - good dark malt with fair roastyness, strong caramel and toffee, chocolate and dark fruit is lightweight. Okay sweetness. Loads of yeast and bread but only okay spicyness, and supposed herbal taste is only on bitterness. Weird… Hoppiness is very light grass in nose. Light lemon and grass in taste. Bitterness is light, mostly herbal than hops for an abrupt, malty sweet finish; Quite dry after taste. Fairly easy to mouth.

Comments: This is has all those exotic herbs listed in the mix, but asiade from some nice sweet-roasted chestnut aroma, spice taste and slight bitterness, this is more like an easygoing hybrid of light Dark Ale and a Porter. Okay to try but not really a real deal.
