Dark orange color with a tanned head.A lot of sediments. Good retention. Aroma is of caramel with flowers and herbs. In mouth the alcohol is not really good integrated and it takes all the protagonism. After that you can taste some herbal notes and a medium bitter dry finish.

Bottle in my Vienna Hotel. Hazy deep amber beer, decent pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and very slightly viscous. Mild fine carbonation. Creamy malt, good toffee streak. Touch of dried fruits and a whisper of red berry fruits. Subtle herbs. Creamy finish. Hangs together well and does a good job of hiding the alcohol.

Advent Calendar #19. I really enjoyed this doppelbock/dunklerbock mishmash! Tasted weird at the first sip as I was expecting an ale, but I warmed to it quickly and each one was progressively better. A sweet sticky lager, but when there’s dried fruit it works. Guessing the spice came in with the bitter finish, which seemed to have more oomph than that carried by hops? Though that might be psychosomatic.
