bottle from Bierzwerg. Hazy deep golden colour, large white head, malty aroma of caramel. Full-bodied, intensive malt flavours, caramel, dark honey. Lively carbonation yet with a pleasant and smooth mouthfeel. I liked it very much.

33cl bottle. Hazy amber colour with a small off-white head. Malt, caramel, honey, grass and spices in the aroma. Average carbonation and light to medium body. Taste is more on the sweet side. Overall, a nice beer but nothing remarkable.

330ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Clear amber honey colour with a thin traces of dirt-like yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and off-white foam which lasts for 1 minute; Good sticky lacing near zero carbonation; Quite fragrant and sweet aroma of malt, with strong caramel, sweet toffee, plums, strong sugar, thick bread, strong yeast, faint lemon and very light grass. Medium sweet taste of malt, with metallic, caramel, toffee, molasses, light cardboard, hint of soot, stone, biscuits, strong yeast, lemon, fairly strong bitter hops and sharp grass; Light body, watery palate. Mouth Feel is good maltyness but in a very light body. Tastes evolve with stone-based strong caramel and toffee, molasses sweetness and sooty stones. A little wet paper and metallic don’t hinder the overall picture. Pretty simple but works quite well… Hoppiness is faint lemon and very light grass in nose, but a lot stronger in taste. Bitterness is moderate and obvious for a lasting, mid-fi bitter-sweet sooty finish. Quite dry after taste. Sweet and hoppy to mouth.

Comments: Comparing to the colourful Leikeim Steinbier, this is rather simple and not sophisticated in aroma and taste, yet it works quite well to satisfy my taste buds for a decent Steinbier, albeit too thin a body. Okay.

Part of the tasting set from amazon. An opaque amber gold pour with an off-white head. This is very malty in the nose giving caramel with a certain buttery quality to it. Medium-thin bodied with an effervescent carbonation. The taste is a bit grainy with a solid clean maltiness, much more balanced and less cloying than I thought. Pretty good but fairly simple.
