Gwatkin Foxwhelp Cider | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
RATINGS: 22 MEAN: 3.12/5.0 WEIGHTED AVG: 3.04 EST. CALORIES: 225 ABV: 7.5%
COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION A dry still cider. Available in 500ml filtered bottles and occasionally on draught (abv varies). NB: Gwatkin sometimes produces draught versions that differ significantly from the bottled. If you rate a draught version please specify that and include details of the ABV and designated sweetness level (if provided). The Foxwhelp apple is one of the oldest recorded varieties of cider apple, dateing back over 300 years. It is thought to have originated on the Herefordshire Gloucestershire borders, where it remains as popular today with commercial and traditional cider makers alike. The trees grow to a good height, bearing apples which are good for blending with the lesser varieties. However, it is best kept as a single variety, which produces a dry, crisp cider full of body and flavour.
