JoeMcPhee (4544), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 18, 2006 500 ml bottle courtesy of geth in beer. Thanks very much. Softer fruitier aroma than the Trembletts I had alongside it. Deeper copper colour. Very cloudy. Fairly acidic, malic aroma. Sweet appley fruit, light apple and a touch of tannic aroma. Ncie wild character, dusty and musty. Flavour is quite lovely, soft and sweet, with a bit of clove and allspice notes sneaking in over the baked apple notes as well. Strong assertive tannic dryness. A bit fuller bodied than the Tremblett’s but the flavour is just slightly less appealing. Still, a tasty cider.
downender (2171), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England May 23, 2009 Bottle from Tanners, Hereford. Amber in colour with slight carbonation. Aroma of dry apples, vinegar and a touch of green herbs. Flavour began sweet, with juicy apple fruit, followed by a fresh blast of the English countryside/market gardens - ransoms, spring onions, herbs. Finish inclined towards sweetness, but overall a cider full of character. hopscotch (5135), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 16, 2009 Cask... Murky amber cider with no head. Subtle aromas of apple, leather and distant smoke. Full-bodied and coarse with only a rumor of carbonation. Very sweet; red and yellow apple blend. Lengthy, lightly sweet finish that dries out entirely.
Fin (2980), Merton, Oxfordshire, England May 10, 2009 Polycask at Banbury Beer Festival, Oxon, 08-05-09 Pours gold some haze, really juicy and more of a medium sweet than medium. Wonderfully full on sweet appley goodness, very tasty and I can see why this was voted UK champion cider at Reading last weekend as it will appeal to many. A7 A3 F7 P4 Ov 3.5 GodOfThunder (668), Orlando, Florida, USA May 4, 2009 Flavors are musty, tart and vinegary. I’m not a big fan of this one. Dry finish. dchmela (1185), Orlando, Florida, USA May 3, 2009 Cask @ Redlight. Dark apple copper pour. Aroma is apple sour cherry. Taste is tart apple, hints of cherry and musty. Very easy drinking cider, this has a bit more body than the other Gwatkins I have tried. cmillward (355), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 26, 2009 Cask @ redlight redlight. Pours copper, darkest of the three. No head. Apple skins, a touch boozy on the nose. Quite dry, mellow apples, a little boozy in flavor too, hints of brandy. A bit tannic in the finish, very dry. Beerlando (1999), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 25, 2009 Cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours a hazy, dark, orange-amber color. Still bodied, with thin sheeting and no head. The aroma shows browned red apples with hints of brown sugar and traces of musty green apples. Flavors are really nicely balanced, sweet, tart, and musty all at once. Red and green apples play off of one another nicely. Traces of wild yeast add dry, musty, bready character. The palate is just shy of medium bodied and round at first, finishing dry and tingly towards the back of the throat. Good cider. Very drinkable. redlight (1257), Winter Park, Florida, USA Apr 25, 2009 cask @ redlight redlight. Tart apple skins on the aroma medium to sweet apple aromas. Pours a cloudy golden color no head but small bubbles forming. Tart apple skins upfront, with pleasent apple flavor with a nice dry finish. Very nice.
