September 5, 2014 at The Southampton Arms (visit #1) - handpull. Amber-gold, very clear and refractive, just a hint of bubbly head. Aroma is quite interesting - apple, alcohol, and an odd uric tartness ... the taste is super super simple, and drinks like 4% - some baked alaska sweetness in it, but ... wow. Slick, average body, not all that much acidity, and quick finishing - very pleasant. A real "wind up in the gutter" pull.

Draught at the Cider Farm in Lewes. This one was quite classy. Cloudy, sharp, some earth in the back with a bit of grass and hay. Unusual aromas by a fine and special cider. Big apples and sharp ending. Liked that one like McT did.

Draught at the Middle Farm Cider Center in Lewes / Firle. Pours out in a deep orange-golden colour with smooth body. Aroma of leaves and red apples. Taste of ripe red apples, some light unripe green ones, leaves and fields. Smooth and delicious finish. Nice one.

Cask @ Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford. Light Copernicus, completely clear and still. Aroma of apples, icing sugar and pear drops. The initial blast of sweetness in the taste gives way to a tart apple-skin finish. A very good cider indeed, but is missing the complexity of some less commercial recipes.

Bladder bag/box at The Full House, Hemel, 04/06/14. Pale golden blonde with moderate off white bubbles that clear to edgeing. Nose is pear, spice, figs, custard. Taste comprises pear drops, straw, apple jus, sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet orchard linger in the close. Ok cider.

Cask at NERAX. Pours amber gold with a reasonable haze. Nice aroma, with apple core, light clovey spice and a light oakiness to it. Flavour is quite a clean sweet fruity apple taste. Slightly syrupy finish. Pretty enjoyable all round.

From a box in the Thomas Sheraton, Stockton. Quite a dark coloured cider. A pretty mild taste to it. Like watered down apple juice. Hides the alcohol very well, so probably great if you’re looking to get drunk fast. I wasn’t, so I wasn’t impressed.

Cask@angle. Copper red. Musty ripe apple zest, some cinnamon, vanilla. Medim full body. Zest&seeds, some tannins, but not much and quite well covered by sweetness. Has a bunch of sugars, slight syrupy finish. Quite alright, a bit murky, nothing spectacular. Some rubber in finish.

On tap at the White Lady. Appearance - amber with no bubble to speak of and no head. Nose - apple sauce but not overly mushed. Taste - fresh apple with an apple juice tang. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good cider in my favourite strong still style.
