Bottled - A blended medium Dry cider.
NOTE: The draught Black Dragon is a different product from the bottled version and has a separate listing.
This special reserve cider has been hand crafted exclusively from cider apples grown by traditional methods in ageing orchards.
The juice pressed from these apples is fermented and matured in oak barrels to produce a cider rich in colour, body and flavour with a fresh fruity aroma.

Bottle, 9C. Gold with some lazing bubbles. Aroma of tart and mellow apples and their skins, wood. Sweetish with fresh apples, a little cooked, drying skins, light wood. Good balance - the sweetness is fleshy but the finish is dry and just a bit zingy. Good.

(bottle) pours a clear golden colour with a fizzy white head. slightly faint aroma of apple pie and custard, quite heavy on the vanilla, with fresh green apples, some very light medicinal bands, capers and oak. flavour is mostly the same, sweet apples balanced by an increasing medicinal funkiness, with even a hint of garlic toward the semi-dry finish. medium-bodied with lively carbonation.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear dark amber, much more like an ESB or amber ale in colour than a cider, with fine trailing bubbles. The aroma is quite weighty, with notes of wood smoke, worn leather, apple skin and dry earth, suggesting a pretty serious cider indeed. Its flavour does not disappoint. Initial tart apple and citrus notes give way to a warming smokiness, which in turn is replaced by a full-bodied apple skin and leather flavour. A long, lingering finish offers some sweeter apple fruit, balanced with smoked meat and bacon. A serious, complex, top-notch cider. Comparing this to the sort of sweet commercial cider available en masse at the moment would be akin to comparing Chateau Latour to wine from a box. This would have to be the finest English-style cider I have thus far sampled, on a par with, although very different to, top Normandy ciders.

Bottle from the excellent The Bottle Shop drunk at home. Clear deep old gold with thin white head. Drunk whilst listening to Aphrodites Child. Dry, structured, tannins, character, all you would want from a cider and this is quickly becoming my favourite cidery. Wow, just so well balanced yet full of character. Really quite wonderful. Lovely cider, good fruit, some sweetness from the apple juice but contained nicely in a subtle tannic glove.

0.5 l bottle at Vihreä Haltiatar, Jyväskylä. Copper color. Sweetish ripe apple aroma with raisins, pepper and cinnamon. Sweet flavor with fruity tannins, some smoky phenols, barnyard, tropical fruits and wood. Full body, tannic palate, low acidity. Slightly too sweet, which causes some lack of depth.

Competent cider although not probably not spectacular. Nice pretty grapey apply notes on the nose and palate, at least early, but this dries out quickly as musty fruits and tannin kick in. Not sure whether the drying tannin comes from the oak or skins (probably the latter) but it really is quite a smart touch. Wonder if this would age ok over a year of two?

500ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo)
6 lovely pongy scrumpy, sharp bold and fruity
4 rich orange, carbonation low
6 quite scrumpylike - aged an pongy like a real cider should be, masses of apple. very close to the fruit and very close to the wood
3 carbonation low, palate smooth and sweet. sharp but sweet too. shame they filtered this.
14 aged perfectly, a massive hum of oak resin infused fermented apple
