500ml bottle. Pours a clear medium gold, with long-lasting fine bubble trails. Its oak-aging is evident on the nose, with some vanilla and sweet smoke notes set against a backdrop of apple skin and leather. A faint initial vanillin sweetness vanishes into tart apple skin, which gives way to bittersweet apple fruit. A touch of muscat leads into lovely smoky oak towards the finish, with some tannic leather to finish it off. There is a lingering sweet apple aftertaste. This is most definitely a superb cider, deserving of its eponymous gold medal. It is a bit like a lighter, slightly sweeter "little brother" of the exceptional Black Dragon Reserve, yet still a delightfully complex cider in its own right.

Quite similar to the Black Dragon although this is definitely more dry as the musty tannins do poke out out more in the back palate (where all powerful tannin should make its presence felt). Perhaps a hint of bitterness as well but works well to combat the dryness. Again would be interesting to see if this would cellar.
