This is a Saison. It has its roots in a long tradition of Belgian farmhouse ales. The mixture of Pale and Vienna malts combine with three different English and German hops to perfectly compliment the earthy, peppery and spicy yeast flavours.

Pours quite a murky/hazy golden colour with a white head. It smells mostly of yeast and the taste is slightly tart.

500ml bottle from the Brewery Online Shop. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of lemon curd, faint white pepper, light bready malt. Taste has a hint of varnish, spice, light floral tones. Spicy linger, bit too much of the varnish though.

Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Hazy gold beer, fluffy white head. Palate is airy and semi dry, modest carbonation. A little green apple. Sweetish floral things. Trace of citrus. Light finish. Clunky, too much apple.

Cask at the Southampton Arms. Amber with a funky lemon, banana and peppermint nose. Malty-sweet with a funky nuttiness. Kinda grows on you.

Nice saison. Authentic. Not just the addition of saison cubes. Hazy. Full body. Also refreshing. Spicy. Oregano? Good example of the style being done well by foreigners.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol March 2015. Deep gold in colour, and slightly hazy, with a decent, white, head. Perfumed, floral, hops, a touch of stone fruits, grainy, slightly yeasty, malts and moderately bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle from Darts Farm near Exeter. Hazy golden-amber with a huge craggy white head. Creamy banana throughout with pepper, ginger and orange promises much but it’s all ruined by a harsh dry metallic bitterness. Really too much metal. Not a fan of this.
