The first gruit ale I have tried, and certainly different from most beers I’ve tried. Strange herbal flavour that I’m not sure if I liked or not. I think I prefer hops, but this wasn’t bad eighter. Very interesting beer, but a bit peculiar. Well worth a try.

Rauchig-getreidiger Beginn mit stimmigen und milden Kräuternoten. Die im Antrunk noch geringen Hefenoten sind im Mittelteil deutlich intensiver, die Rauchigkeit dagegen in weiten Teilen verschwunden, als Ersatz zeigen sich Karamellnoten. Würzig, harmonisch, ausgewoegn, interessant. Nicht schlecht! 6/11/11/11/8/11

Slightly hazy amber "beer". Completely dead in seconds, although there’s some bubbles hanging inside the glass. Taste is herbal and bacon. Pretty awfull!

Glowing amber with a medium foamy off white head that quickly dies. Herbal, bacon, dry leave, methol, and anise. Dead carbonation, but suits the beer. Light bitter and spices. Boring, herbal taste. Not for me. (At De Molen tasting)

Bottle at Haandbryggeriet. Bread and spices, a bit short. The lack of hops makes this more of an experiment than a beer I would drink regularly.

Bottle, bought @ Alvinne Beershop, Belgium.
Slightly hazy deep red with a medium, fizzy, frothy, off-white head. Soon disappears. Continues to fizz. Aroma has lots of herbs and red fruit. Raspberries, bog myrtle, light vinious, caramel. High, prickly carbonation, fairly light and spritzy mouthfeel with some dryness. Flavour has bog myrtle, caramel, cranberries, dryness. Good dryness with some oily notes at the end.

From Skyview. Nearly half of the bottle gushed out upon opening. Flavor is sweet mostly, brown sugar and some yeast, smooth. Nice malt aroma with grain, but I do not perceive an herbal quality.

Keg at CP&K. It pours hazy deep amber, with a big yellow-white head. The nose is fresh strawberry, malt vinegar, balsamic vinegar and ginger. The taste is fig, raisin, date, wood, brown sugar, varnish, berry, light vinegar, herbal and toasted brown bread. Full body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Enjoyable and interesting.

15.10.2011. 0,5l Bottle. On the train from Drammen to Oslo during RBNAG-11. Hazy with residue. Aroma is malty with medium body. Notes of herbs, spices and flavours of yeast. Lively carbonated.
