Bottle @ Papsø. Thanks to OleR! Hazy reddish brown appearance with a very a small tan head. Very spicy, burnt smoky, tangy berry (almost cranberry like), charred aroma. Charred, mild char, tire fire smoky, strange berry pie flavor. Interesting but weird.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of OleR. Pours a dark brown with a vague orange hue and a small, rough off-white head. Heavy, smoky nose with a berryish touch. Medium body, very low in carbonation, sweet and fruity, quite some honey, herbs. No real bitterness. Wauw, so many things going on in there. Probably one of the most complex beers I’ve ever had! 140712

On draft @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. Dark reddish body with a small beige head. Almost intense aroma of honey and smoked malt with some caramel. Rather unusually flavor, definitively sweet, smoked malt, quite strong honey flavor and rather moderate bitterness. Fine body. Quite weird in flavors, lots of thing going on, but not necessary as a good thing and no real balance at all. Sorry, not my cup of beer and almost difficult to finish. Some extra pint for the effort.

Pouring at The Festival in Worcester. Pours a ruby amber with a touch of haze under a thin white head. Big smoke, huge peaty rubbery smoke. Sweet berries, lingonberry jam. Sweet and smoky, odd together. Smoked fruit jelly. Still works, but somewhat disjointed. Interesting nonetheless. Long smoke and sweet jam.

500ml bottle by the courtesy of OleR, shared at the Absalon tasting session ’12. Dark brown coloured body, unclear. Spotty lacing to the glass. Rather prominent aroma of smoked malts with notes of farmyard coming through, not particular inviting. Strange flavour with honeyed malts added by some kind of tart berries. Heavy, but possible, to drink. We didn’t empty the bottle, and Skinnyviking got the leftovers the next day (Copenhagen, 12.05.2012).

Small beige head. Clear deep red body. Smoky vanilla aroma with honey and licorice notes. Sweet (and faintly acidic) spicy wild berries and dark wild honey taste with smoky milky lingonberry notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish mild milky smoky honey aftertaste with lingonberry and tar notes. Lovely! Highly drinkable, and deeply weird. (0.15l sample at Haand 2012.)

On tap at Haand beer festival 2012. Very dark brown, bordering on black colour with a medium big head that settled down fast. Aroma is sour with some vinous notes. Honey and hints of charcoal. Flavour is also sour honey, but there’s also hints of charcoal and some metallic notes. Not good and it got poured out after a few sips.

@ Haand festival. Pour murky brown, with a creamy white head. Aroma of smoke, caramel, honey. Taste is sweet, but there’s a little to much smoke. Average body, with an average carb.
