Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate with a hint of sourness. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter and sour. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Tap @ Borefts 2012. The pour’s deep amber with a tiny tan head. The nose is smokey peat, cedar wood and smokey toasted grains. Yep, smoke. The taste is light toffee sweetness, peated whiskey and more wood. Mild bitter chocolate and light honey. Medium body, easy to drink. Overall, a bit too much smoke for my liking. Playful stuff, though.

On tap at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours clearish, red-brown with a creamy, beige head. Light smoke in the nose, some honey. Medium sweet flavor, some ham, honey, faint smoke, dark malts, brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet finish, some peat, caramel, honey, sweaty meat, faint tangy fruits. Novel.

On tap at BBF’12. Dark brown colour, creamy light beige head. Aroma is really Belgian, quite sweet and malty, dark fruits, light smoke. Flavour is all over the place, all sorts of flavours like smoke, berries, kandij, honey, molasses, juniper, rather sweet and sticky. Medium-bodied. Not quite convinced.

brokensail (14042) - San Leandro, California, USA - SEP 30, 2012
Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Heavy smoke and peat notes with a hint of burnt plastic. A bit of maple syrup sweetness, bread, and herbal notes, too. The flavor is quite smokey with some burnt wood and char notes. Juniper, mild fruits, plastic, and some maple sweetness. The smoke really dries out the mouth.

Draft at Borefts '12. Dark mahogany pour with a glass hugging head and lots of lace. The aroma is of dates and mature raisins. The raisins are there in the rich semi sweet flavour too. There is no bitterness and nothing sits on the palate for too long. A great ale to taste, but might quickly become a little sickly after the first pint! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
