Bottle, batch 602.Very interesting beer. In aroma roasty tones, woody, little bit of vanilla. In taste also roasty tones, alcohol is perceptible, but in a noble way, notes of cherry, porto etc. This beer is oak aged, taste of barrels is delicate, not so strong. Barrels doesn’t dominate the taste, it’s a good complement. Carbonization is little to high.

Barwa: czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, obfita, utrzymująca się i ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: ciemne słody, czekolada, lekka kawa, jakby owies, i nuty bimbrowo - alkoholowe (w pozytywnym znaczeniu). Interesujący. Smak: pełny, słodowy, słodki. Następnie nieco bardziej wytrawna kontra, czekolada gorzka, kawa, nieco paloności i wyraźnie alkoholowy finisz. Następne piwo z norweskiego browaru HaandBryggeriet, przywiezione z Krakowa.

Roasty, chocolate porter with a boozy end/aftertaste that must be aquavit (which I’ve never had). Pretty good stuff. And this was bottled as Barrel Aged Porter, the label was beautiful as well.

50cl bottle from Sonoma Cellars. Pours inky black with a foamy root beer ice head. Nice spots of lace. Aroma has molasses, chocolate, caramel, and coffee, with hints of grape. Taste is of bakers chocolate, heavy roast, sweet caramelly malts, and molasse, with a hint of lactose. Full bodied. Finishes to the sweet side of bittersweet, but with depth. Interesting flavor blend and a very solid brew.

Bottle: Poured a dark black color porter with a nice thick brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt with light dry roasted malt with some liquor notes. Taste is also a nice mix between some barrel-aged liquor notes with some black chocolate and some dry roasted malt notes. The barrel-aging is well balanced and cut some of the rough edges. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very enjoyable beer and really enjoyed the spirit notes that came through this one.

My Bottom Line:
Dark chocolate and prunes are anchored in roasted cereals, while portly residual sugars are licked by alcohol warmth in this very satisfying Barrel-Aged Porter.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam protects the pure darkness.
-The finish could be tighter. It’s heavily sweet and perhaps underhopped for its girth.
-The fruitiness helps drinkability.
-The body is rich and smooth. This is a fireside brew.

Bottle.

SFBW Sour Sunday 2014. Very dark with a tan head. Lots of smoke in the aroma from the clearly very well raosted malts. As the layers come forward there the dark chocolate and dried cherries show up. Taste is mostly sweet with some bitter notes. Great beer!

From a 50 cl bottle shared in Park City UT. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of boozy cherries. Flavors of oak, dark fruits and a hint of licorice. Smooth boozy finish.
