Black with huge tan head. Smoky aroma of chocolate toffee and coffee. Rich and complex palate like the finish of a great mocha with notes of tobacco and caramel.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Dark brown color, almost black. Smell of poor office coffee pot, ashy. The flavor is a bit sweet, with malt flavor, roasted malts, and bad coffee (old boiled coffee). Unfortunate.

500ml bottle in stem glass. Pours black with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, a little caramel and nuttiness, plus a decent amount of bitter hops. Flavor the same, with lots of coffee. Smooth texture. A lot of coffee in this one, which I like.

The pour is dark brown with a small, tan, frothy head which is mostly diminshing and leaves minimal, frothy lace. The nose is very earthy, buttery, lightly woodsy, coffee roast, some dark bread toast, and faint dark chocolate and caramel. The flavor is still very earthy, moderate coffee roast with minimal acidity, light dark toast, some woodsy notes, light dark chocolate, and an iodine note. The palate is less than lively, medium, drying, and creamy. The beer finishes more bitter and still very earthy, some iodine, and chocolate. Interesting beer with odd coffee addition notes, but it was well built and drinkable. Decent.

Aroma of coffee and dark roasted malts. Bitter at first. Medium to rich body with good flavours of dark roasted malts. There is also some sweetness. Very good flavours of coffee at the end. Lasting bitter aftertaste

On tap at Haandverkerstuene. Almost black with a creamy head. Intense bitter-acidic coffee aroma. Sweet caramel blending with roasted coffee flavours, all very nicely balanced. Very nice.

On tap at Haandverkerstuene. It pours more or less black, topped by a dense, tan head of moderate size. The aroma has lots of lovely coffee, along with roasted malts, some alcohol and hints of cocoa. Lightly sourish flavor, in a coffee kind of way, and also the flavor is dominated by coffee. Delicious coffee I must say, but it’s a bit one dimensional. Medium to full body, pleasantly carbonated. Coffee in the finish too. A quite lovely one, especially the aroma, but it could use a bit more body. As this is entered from my backlog, I can also add that what I’ve had from bottles later on hasn’t been equally impressive, the lack of depth has been even more evident. Anyway, a fine beer it is. 111015
