Bottle. Pours a dark brown black with a soapy khaki head that fades to a foamy film. Aroma is green pepper coffee with nothing else. Taste is coffee and green peppers with some sort of heat in the finish. Palate is thin and chalky with a spicy dry finish.

visionthing (3320) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 21, 2011
Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours black with a small head. Intense aroma of freshly grounded coffee followed by roasted malt. A delicious coffee beer with taste of freshly made coffee, a bit sweet, but not too much.

Nice dark brown pour with a fluffy beige head. Aroma was coffee and a decent roasted malt kick. Flavors were coffee ridden and roasty. Mouthfeel was medium, almost creamy and smooth, carbonation light. Although this was very straightforward it was well executed. Nicely done.

Dedollewaitor (14423) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 9, 2011
Bottle @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours black with a small creamy head and lacings. Lovely roasted coffee malts and chocolate. Dry, smooth and bitter. Really tasty coffee profile! Straight forwarded, simple and delicious! A bit of pepper as it warms. Reminds me of De Molen Kopi Loewak only with a smoother and more pleasant carbonation level. Dopeness.

Cybercat (3801) - Georgia, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Pours a deep, opaque sable just a couple red tomcat whiskers above black with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma has notes of semi-sweet chocolate and coffee and hints of caramel and molasses. Coffee flavor has chocolate and caramel tones and is a little sweet, but not too sweet. Body is fairly thick and heavy, but fizz is minimal. Overall, a darned good porter, which I recommend to all porter and coffee beer lovers.

Courtesy of gnoff. Pours pitch black with a small creamy tanned head leaving lace. Aroma is coffee, roasted malty, a bit smokey, dark fruits and chocolate. Flavor is sweetish, roasted, coffee, a bit fruity, bitter and some lactic tones. Finishes roasted and coffee.

INDASTRIA (129) - Berlin & Rome, GERMANY - NOV 21, 2011
Bottle @ Bir&Fud Bottega.Solid black color; No reflex, no see-through. Beige too massive creamy head. strong liquorice aroma at first (not a good start) then not very intense coffee, chocolate, malt, herbs and just a little bit of lilquorice.. The taste is chocolate, coffee, much malt. The finish is bitter and sweet. This one is a very very good, enjoyable and well done porter/sout. The only issue is the name: "costa rica" puts your expectation of a strong coffee aroma and taste on the highest level. But it totally misses the goal IMO.

Bottle, bought @ Skjold Burne, Roskilde.
Pours opaque black with a big, creamy, beige head. Lovely duration. Aroma has lots of fresh coffee, a bit of roasted malts, soft peppery herbal notes. Chocolate sweetness. Wonderful coffee, really. Medium to high carbonation, nice full and soflty creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is elegant, sweet chocolate dominates, but also dry coffee, light chili pepper notes, liqourice and sweet caramel. A really well-balanced coffee porter.

joeneugs (3845) - Livermore, California, USA - NOV 16, 2011
On draft at the Livermore Saloon. It pours light brown with a khaki head. The aroma is subdued with brown, chocolate, and light roasted malts. Hints of coffee. The flavor is very smoky with brown sugar, smoke, ham and a campfire finish. Dang, I would have bet this was a smoked beer. Pretty good stuff.
