3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Very dark brown with a bubbly brown head that leaves nice lace. Aroma is bitter baker’s chocolate and roasted coffee. Nice marriage of hard roast and fresh espresso bean on the palate. Packs a nice flavour punch for the ABV. Very enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate and more espresso. Jet black with a huge brown head that will not quit. Espresso with a bit of coffee bitterness and a sweet finish. A nice coffee porter, that has much more robust flavors for a relatively low abv.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle@wka. Black, thin head. Roasted, dry coffee beans, dark chocolate on nose. Medium bodied, dry. Delightfully chocolate coffee-y. Good flavours, good intensite. Not overpowering though, remains drinkable. Slightly ashy, but good chocolate finish. Pretty nice.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Perfect score on appearance; near black with two fingers of creamy brown head. Nice topper throughout and light lacing. Nose is intense with fresh espresso, roast, and cocoa. A coffee lover’s dream. Intense coffee flavors build throughout with a light bittersweet chocolate finish, but enough espresso to balance. Plenty of roast. For a moment, in the middle, I thought it was a little dry or chalky, but this fades away. The only negative (minor) seems to be the transition of flavors being a little rough, edgy if you will. Maybe just a little more emphasis on mocha or cocoa could smooth this out and I’d be jumping up and down all day long. Overall it’s really quite good, just shy of excellent, as it meets my every expectation of a coffee porter.

500ml brown bottle. 6% abv on label. Brown pour, thin brown head. Roasted coffee nose. Taste has black coffee up front and some chocolate, caramel and some late sweetness. Lots of coffee bitterness that lingers and some chocolate aftertaste. Medium body and mild carbonation. A nice coffee porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A rich nutty-alty dark brown ale with moderate fresh coffee beans presence.
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed with some age on it.
The look: Dark brown body topped by a small tan head.
In long: As expected the nose is mostly about roast and coffee beans, very typical but always inviting coffee beer aroma The aroma also has notes of nutty caramel which hints that this will something different than the usual coffee stout/porter. In mouth the beer is full body, a texture that is on the creamy side and a generous carbonation. Plenty of delicious nuts and caramel upfront, a bite in a pecan pie, nutty brownies. Delicious cereals here. The coffee is a lot less present than in the aroma which is fine, a moderate presence of fresh coffee beans that blends extremely well with the creamy nutty caramelized backbone. A good presence of leafy hops (fresh tobacco) that keeps the sweetness in check. List here on ratbeer as a Porter, to me in was some kind of rich nutty brown ale with coffee. Very impressed by this beer, an unexpected pleasant surprise. I loved this beer, lots of people didn’t, and that’s what’s amazing about ratebeer, the way someone from another continent can drink a beer and rate it and thanks to ratebeer I can be sitting at my home thousands of miles away and despise the opinion of this person.
